Speed

Jack Traven, an LAPD cop on SWAT detail, and veteran SWAT officer Harry Temple thwart an extortionist-bomber's scheme for a $3 million ransom. As they corner the bomber, he flees and detonates a bomb vest, seemingly killing himself. Weeks later, Jack witnesses a mass transit city bus explode and nearby a pay phone rings. On the phone is that same bomber looking for vengeance and the money he's owed. He gives a personal challenge to Jack: a bomb is rigged on another city bus - if it slows down below 50 mph, it will explode - bad enough any day, but a nightmare in LA traffic. And that's just the beginning...

Honestly the only action movie that I think is better than this is Die Hard. And that's a hard feat to beat, so...

Was absolutely captivated the whole movie, had no idea where it was going to go, even though at the end in hindsight it looked pretty obvious. But damn! This was great. On the edge of my seat the whole time

Speed is one of my favorite action movies of all time, just a notch below contemporaries like Terminator 2 and Die Hard. The premise is so simple that it's almost a parody of movie pitches (Homer Simpson's line was "I saw this movie about a bus that had to SPEED around a city, keeping its SPEED over fifty, and if its SPEED dropped, it would explode! I think it was called 'The Bus That Couldn't Slow Down'."). Fortunately this film came to be much better than the sum of its parts, and it's deservedly remembered as one of the most entertaining films of the 90s.

>"Pop quiz, hotshot."

Absolute banger. I don't know if Keanu Reeves or Sanda Bullock have looked hotter than in this movie, and I love them both! The action, the music, the humor is all solid. I get hyped just hearing a few seconds of the rush hour theme. I wish they had never made a sequel.

Can't believe how well this film stands up today.

A top-action thriller, super easy to recommend just great fun from start to finish. Loved every minute.

9/10 - Excellent film, always happy to rewatch

I've not not seen this since it first came out and I was surprised and delighted at how well it stands up today. A great action thriller with a sprinkling of 90's cheese. Loved watching it again and would recommend.

A little corny in times but the adrenaline is too high you don't even care. Should probably ended at 1h40 or even 1h35.

Waaaay cornier than I thought it was going to be, but that made it way more enjoyable. There are lots of moments of genuine tension, and the score is surprisingly good.
