Probably the best of the 5 films, Heston ruined the 1st and 2nd movie by giving up on the franchise because he was afraid of always being remembered as Taylor, 3rd was good but it had to try and pick up the pieces. 4th was amazing, and this 5th one was amazing

Imo there’s no multiple timelines here, I think it was a loop but this time Caesar broke the loop and changed history, Dr Zira coming back from the future is 100% what caused dogs and cats to go mute then eventually humans in the original 1-2 timeline (even tho nova proved we just need to learn how to talk again)

It’s definitely broken because of killing off the nuke religion people, Caesar’s forbidden zone goes away not that humans get their own land, Aldo’s first“No” isn’t remembered, also Aldo is dead and Caesars name is remembered

Unless they said Aldo was a gorilla in the first film I kind of feel like that aldo is Caesar in the loop

This is a very good film, not anywhere near as good as the first four of the series, but for only one reason. 10 minutes.

The Japanese release of 'Battle' contains an extra 10 minutes of footage that I feel is not only important to the storyline, but it completely changes the feel of the film. Without those crucial 10 minutes of footage, the viewer is thus given a somewhat watered down t.v. series type version of the film, originally done to attract a more younger audience. I personally love this film either way, Trust me, before critisizing 'Battle For The Planet Of The Apes', seek out the Japanese release and see for yourself just how different (and better) a decent film can become with only 10 minutes of added storyline.

So, this is it - the final installment of the classic "Ape" movies. And it's not really a winner. It also isn't Part 2 awful. But just like that it never really took me in. I guess they wanted to show that the future isn't a forgone conclusion. But there are still 1300 years up to the point when Taylor arives so it still could be the same outcome.

Like all the previous prequels this has inconsistencies in terms of the timeline. At the end the custodian of the armory says he's been there for 27 years but you don't see that reflected in the human Kolp who came from that time .And if that MacDonald is the brother of the other one he must have been a child when the nuclear desaster happened. It's also a bit far fetched that so many apes learned to speak in such a short timeframe. Yeah, I know - 70s movies didn't care for that type of things and audiences probably also didn't.

The theme is pretty much reset-repeat. Mankind is evil and out to destroy everything and anything but this time we also have a war mongerer ape in General Aldo. And we see that Apes can be equal to men when push comes to shove.

That battle, or dare I say it - war, was very underwhelming. If each movie had a smaller budget than the one before, there must have been only pennies left. Well, it actually was 1.8m$ according to imdb which is about 13m$ today. For comparison, first one had 5.8m$. Do the math.

After having gone through all five films once again I would make a mental note: if I ever go through them again only watch parts 1, 3 and 4. The rest don't do much for me.

A limp way for the original franchise to finish.

Its predecessor, 'Conquest of the Planet of the Apes', was a weak entry too but remained watchable, though 'Battle for the Planet of the Apes' kinda straddles the other side as it's uninteresting. I didn't dislike it and it is very short at around 82 minutes, which helps. Roddy McDowall is the pick of the cast, though even his performance feels weary at this point.

A 'strong' 6/10 rating from me, if such a thing exists. It was the right time for them to end this (very good, all in all) series.

Not really required sequel of the franchise that we could have lived without. For fans only

Summary: What feels like.. another refresh, luckily still having direct consequences from the previous film, it's a good yet simple story. The deepest point of philosophy from my understanding is it's anti-reverse racism. Just a solid story and decent ending to the franchise. 6/10
Pros:
• I like the slow growth of the waring factions, though they are a bit simplistic in mindset.
• I love the debate of reverse racism. The apes treating humans less than in response to the humans once treating them as such. Especially Macdonald's view of it.
• I see apes doing ape things like climbing trees, the first time in this whole series.
Cons:
• Simplistic antagonist philosophies
• Long to the point.

A fair way to rap up to the
Planet of the Apes Saga.
Before we enter remake
And reboot territory.
This 5th and final Installment brings
everything a full circle
and raises some interesting debates of time, decisions and how that effects future outcomes to unfold,
It was a much more 'welcomed'
family friendly debate than all that
race bashing stuff from all the previous movies before.
But I will say I have the extended version of this movie on blu ray and this is definitely the better way to view it as it adds more scenes and a better battle at the end that makes this movie from
Meh-to a Fair enjoyable
Watch. Roddy sells the movie with a good solid performance and everyone else plays their part.
This final seems to take all the main drive elements from all previous movies before and incorporates
them all into this last chapter and I am pleased
to say it works for the most part.
Don't even try to add up the timeline of dates and events because especially with This movie
it completely ballz it all up
like not even close to being right,
But chronology none of the Others are either
So to be fair it's fair to say it's consistent.
But with that it's still been a good watch all the same
this saga and it's been more fun than being bad
So for that I now walk away happy
of the time spent on some good
Classic entertainment.
(See you in a couple of years for another rewatch
Now that Disney has bought the rights and are currently doing a Remake of the hole franchise of the rebooted movies).

The series come full circle in Battle For the Planet of the Apes. In the wake of nuclear annihilation Caesar sets up a new ape society, but it’s soon threatened by war when human survivors from the fallout discover his ape city. Several Ape series veteran actors return, including Roddy McDowall, and John Huston makes a featured appearance. Once again themes of predestination, human nature, and prejudice are explored, and the film finds a nice balance of drama and action in which to tell this tale, and it maintains some ambiguity and mystery despite being a pseudo-prequel. Entertaining and full of thrills, Battle For the Planet of the Apes serves as a nice wrap-up to the series.
