The Monkey King was a bit goofy but seeing all the Monkey King movies around these days. I now know, he's supposed to be goofy. He was my only problem with this otherwise fun adventure. That unites Jackie Chan and Jet Li in a Neverending Story meets Karate Kid meets Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon like Fantasy/Kung-Fu film.

"Learn the form, but seek the formless. Hear the soundless. Learn it all, then forget it all. Learn The Way, then find your own way."

A Wuxia movie starring both Jackie Chan and Jet Li, what could go wrong? Well, I didn't anticipate a CGI Jet Li Monkey King, an old man make-up Jackie Chan, a generic looking main kid and I was hoping for more fights between these two legends.

But I can't complain, I never thought I would see these two together in a Wuxia movie. Rob Minkoff did a decent job. We've seen better fights from these two, I do love that Jet Li plays the silent Monk type character and Jackie Chan a drunken beggar.

Yes, I was hoping for more but I can't complain we have gotten a movie with these two legends together.

It's an awful movie. Another stupid plot where an American learns a martial art and saves the day - made a time where some people thought wire work made a good martial art movie.

But it does has Jet Li and Jackie Chan And a brilliant line where the Silent Monk says to the Drunken Immortal "It's wrong not to share"

A celebration of all things kung-fu. screentime is split and given to show many different mythical elements and beliefs of kung-fu as the plot goes on. flying techniques, immortality elixiers, fighting monks, drunk style, magic and more related to chinese mythology and kung-fu in general.

xcomedically evil villans. isekai plots. the hot love interest. it is a enjoyable time to turn off your brain and logic and enjoy it for what it is.

A very short and consumed story! After all, it's an action movie, you get a lot of fight scenes, and that's about it! As far as story, don't expect a strong one.

The American-centrism really brings down this film for me. It places a white American teen in the center of a classical Chinese story. As anticipated as the pairing of Jackie Chan and Jet Li is, the film is somewhat disappointing.

That said, it is still a thrill to see Jackie Chan and Jet Li share the screen. And to see Jackie Chan doing drunken boxing once again. I just wish the story had served the casting of the two legendary actors better.
