The second movie on the same subject still works, namely also because of a further upgrade of the cast. Good fun.

Doesn't have the charm the first has but definitely has the entertainment. I love how the story had actual historical meaning. Characters that changed history, for good or bad and the cast just gets better and better. The concepts and ideas for both the story and directing feel like a museum in itself. I wish some characters didn't have screen time for longer than they've been preserved. Mostly because Ben Stiller felt like an antique. It takes more effort to rewatch because there's only a few scenes that are exhibition worthy. Most of it feels rushed and ages poorly, compared to the first.

A thing that ruined this entire movie for me was the forced love interest. Totally unnecessary. Overall, my least favorite movie in the trilogy.

Didn't enjoy it as much as the first, guess it's the sequel curse.

I liked the first one better, it's feels a bit overdone. There is just so much going on.

Making all the mistakes of a sequel, Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian goes too far and becomes a big dumb mess. The adventure continues as New York’s museum exhibits are shipped to the Smithsonian, where Kahmunrah is brought to life and attempts to use the magic tablet to open the Gate of the Underworld, but Larry Daley comes to the rescue when his friends call for help. Most of the original cast return and are joined by Amy Adams, Hank Azaria, and Bill Hader. Unfortunately going bigger with museum pieces coming to life just makes the film seem that much more ridiculous and harder to go with. The same goes for the characters, there are too many and they’re too diverse: from Kahmunrah to Gen. Custer to Einstein. Still, this creates the opportunity for a lot of mismatched comedy bits that deliver some good laughs. While it has some entertaining moments, Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian is just too busy and chaotic.
