Neveldine-Taylor delivered yet again a stylistically fantastic, pseudo B-movie production. Nice "scifi" concepts, that ironicallyn might have felt more dated and out of place on release than they do now. I wouldn't call it a good story, but it's interesting and entertaining enough to follow it through the action til the end.

A Futuristic Thrill Ride

Rating: 4/5

In the realm of sci-fi action films, Gamer stands out as a thought-provoking and visually stunning thrill ride. Released in 2009, this movie's themes of virtual reality, social control, and the blurring of lines between the physical and digital worlds feel eerily relevant today.

Gerard Butler shines as Kable, a death row inmate who becomes a superstar in a virtual reality game called "Slayers." With his chiseled good looks and charisma, Butler brings a sense of gravitas and heroism to the role.

The film's concept, created by Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, is fresh and exciting. The idea of a virtual reality game that allows players to control real people in a simulated environment raises important questions about the ethics of technology and the consequences of our actions.

The action sequences are fast-paced and intense, with impressive stunts and slick visual effects. The supporting cast, including Michael C. Hall, Logan Lerman, and Kyra Sedgwick, add depth and complexity to the story.

While some of the themes and ideas may feel a bit dated, Gamer remains a gripping and thought-provoking film that's well worth watching. With its timely commentary on the intersection of technology and society, this movie would be fascinating to see re-released in 2025. If you're a fan of sci-fi action films or are simply looking for a thrilling ride, Gamer is definitely worth checking out.

This was a really interesting movie. The plot was unique and interesting, with a decent cast. The CGI is quite impressive given the films age and still stands up well. If you like mindless explosions, this is a good film to watch. Unfortunately, it feels rushed towards the end - but still manages to deliver enough action and plot even given its short runtime.

This is without doubt a modern day action movie with hints of the 80' and 90's classics. If you like action and something new go and see this you wont be disappointed.

I watched this one for Butler alone ... and was disappointed even then!

If you can make it through the first half of this - which is a challenge in itself - then the payoff is kind of worth it. It's that getting through the lunacy of the "gaming" environment that takes a major toll on your brain and makes you wonder if it's worth sitting through this. The acting was...well...videogame-esque. Not awful, but certainly nothing to impress you. (I mean, they were characters in videogames.) The editing itself really needed some work; it was like they started on the "humanz" side of what was happening, and then got bored and said, _"Let's just cut to the end and don't waste a lot of time on this part."_ This wasn't my first time to watch this but it's been so long that, apart from the videogame aspect, I had forgotten pretty much everything about this. It's definitely not for the faint of heart: lot of R-rated, near-pornographic stuff, excessive violence, bloodshed, pervasive language...and the film as a whole isn't worth it, IMHO. I mean, yes, the payoff is good; the ending gives you what you want, but for what you have to endure...meh, there are far better movies out there. If you're bored and you haven't seen this, and you're not epileptic, and you have a couple hours free on a boring Saturday evening, this can kill some time. Apart from that, though, there's not really much reason - not even Gerard Butler - to watch this one. The harshest part of this movie, however, is that sadly I can see society finally reaching such an absolute state of decay...especially with today's generation wanting nothing more than to sit in diapers and play video games all day.

**PUBLIC SAFETY ANNOUNCEMENT** Do not watch this if you have any sort of condition that causes a reaction to flashing/strobe lights, etc.

I thought this movie was fair. It had the music and the action and the dramatic effects that was intense throughout the movie, but towards the end was a little boring.
