An orphaned girl, driven by poverty at such a young age, makes a promise with an enchantress. In return for beauty and the admiration of every man, she will never be with the man she loves. Still one of my favourite chinese fairytales even if it's been ripped to shreds elsewhere.
Yes, some of the CGI, esp. in the beginning, may be incredibly bad but there are such beautiful and imaginative scenes in this movie that might take your breath away.
After rewatching it today I still believe that besides all it's flaws it's just an entertaining and mesmerizing picture.
