Hostage is an intense thriller that’s smart and entertaining. The story follows a former LAPD hostage negotiator who gave up the big city life to be a sheriff of a small-town, but is forced to step into a hostage crisis once again when his family is kidnapped. The cast includes Bruce Willis, Ben Foster, and Robert Knepper, who all deliver solid performances. And the writing’s also fairly good, and is able to build tension and maintain suspense. However, the last act seems a bit tacked on and superfluous. Yet despite a few weaknesses, Hostage is an exciting and dramatic action film.

As a kid I thought this movie was badass. As an adult I can see all the flaws but it still has it's moments. Bruce Willis is pretty good and not over the top, but Ben Foster's performance is what stands out to me.
6.4/10 good but nothing fresh or speial!
Mediocre action flick starring Bruce Willis (Jeff Talley) as an ex FBI hostage negotiator. Talley's own family is taken hostage to blackmail him into being the negotiator in another hostage situation one more time. Nothing special but an OK watch...
