this movie definitely killed me! actually I am speechless to talk about this incredible film!!
Truly a perfect movie. Splendidly cast, heartfully performed, beautifully written, soulfully rendered. I cannot think of a single thing that would have made this better. I give this film a 10 (perfect) out of 10. [Drama]
Oh Rudy, my sweet, innocent little baby… if only life had given you a chance…😭
And Liesel, wow, what a beautifully wise, perservering and selfless girl. It was really something to see the world through her eyes, and experience the immense, never-ending loss that kids in those days must have gone through…
Oh Hans, I really liked him.
A wonderful adaptation of my favourite book, and I don't read so that says something. Doesn't exactly have the same emotional resonance, but it's damn close. A very good movie and highly recommend.
"The Book Thief" is a heartwarming yet poignant story that provides a glimpse into the challenging times during Hitler's reign. It's a stark reminder of the historical realities, and it's difficult to imagine life during that era. The performance of the girl playing Liesel is outstanding, and her character adds depth to the story
Now that I've watched the movie, I really liked it. It's a decent adaptation from the book and I utterly love the set design, it looks so charming and lived in. One thing that really bugs me as a German speaking person though is that the main cast very clearly isn't German. The accents are off, though not annoyingly so, I just don't understand what's so difficult about hiring German actors for German roles. The background characters with speaking roles mostly were German, and so is the actor for Rudi which is apparent every time he says German words. A bit of a nitpick I guess, but it happens all the time when German characters are involved in movies.
Original Comment: Haven't watched this yet, but I needed to mention how utterly overedited that poster is. She looks downright uncanny, might as well have blurred out her face completely. "The child that lives during WW2 must look like a supermodel!!" ~ the editors, probably
