National Treasure

What an epic adventure film with a cool story about a national treasure and the historical family that has always been searching for it and how it ties into great American history. Nicholas Cage and others put on a brilliant act as the plot development is fantastic and the hook gets you right from the beginning.

I know people shit on this movie a lot, and I get that the plot is ridiculous. but its so FUN! Thats all I ask for- to be entertained. ignore the insanity of the plot and just enjoy it.

I forgot how good National Treasure was—and how great movies felt back then. It’s rare to find films today with this kind of charm, blending pure adventure with engaging, action-packed storytelling. While it’s a Nicolas Cage movie, Diane Kruger is stunning and often steals the spotlight. The early 2000s may have been the last era to regularly deliver stories like this. Even after 20 years, it’s still incredibly entertaining—free from the overly politicised tone that’s become common in films since the 2010s.

PS: After watching this today, I realised the movie goes on for 2 hours and 11 minutes. Wow! Pretty sure I've watched this many times since 2004. I never ever felt it goes for that long . Not a single boring moment. Someone should study this and make sure the writers and directors today learn how it was done. I bet it's those Freemasons and their alchemy. 😳

I love this movie! I've seen him more times than it's listed here on Trakt.tv. I remember having goosebumps at the end of the movie when Nick Cage lit the fire. And I must say that nothing has changed since then. And I certainly didn't see the film for the last time. For people who like hidden clues in historical events, the film is just a hit!

_Btw: This is basically Uncharted converted to a movie screen. Just exchange the main characters for characters from the game_ 😏

Too bad the second movie ruined it for me. This one really rocked.

One of Cage's best, great film.

Though the plot's absurd, National Treasure is wildly entertaining. Treasure hunter Ben Gates endeavors to steal the Declaration of Independence and ends up on a quest to find the fabled treasure of the Knights Templar. The film has a great cast that includes Nicolas Cage, Diane Kruger, Sean Bean, and Harvey Keitel; who all give strong performances. As crazy as the plot is, it's a lot of fun, and is rather clever in how it strings together the Knights Templar, Masons, and the Founding Fathers into a vast conspiracy. Plus, the film is packed with thrilling chases and riveting action scenes. The film has its flaws, but National Treasure is an incredible fun adventure.

Nic Cage is a National Treasure. He should have been the final treasure not some ancient artifact.

I don't know why, but I really enjoy this movie even though I'm not a big Nic Cage fan.
