Day of the Wacko

It is a bitter story about a middle-aged man, who hates his life and other people, including himself. Adam Miauczynski, the character known from director Marek Koterski's previous films, is a 44 year-old teacher, who reads poetry during school lessons and later goes home swearing and calling his neighbours' names. The worst pain for him is the next 5 minutes of living. He doesn't accept himself and even everyday contacts with others cause his aggression. Though constantly dreaming of a romantic love, he is not bold enough to make his dreams come true. The desperate Miauczynski personalizes our own fears and obsessions, which have become so visible recently.

A fantastic cross-section of the life of a middle-aged man whose life's meaning and achievements are so often questioned. In addition, we have an excellent look at Polish society across the ages.

At first you might think it's just a "haha Polish man gets angry and swears a lot" type of movie, but it shouldn't take long for it to click that all the things that happen to MiauczyƄski are things the average person - me and you included - may have to deal with as well. From being guilt-tripped about things we have no control over, through all the annoying types of people we encounter in life, to regretting the wasted opportunities in life. It's kind of a social commentary shown through an admittedly somewhat absurd purview of a man who is far from perfect himself.

Very introspective drama comedy about a day in the life of an extremely tormented man. It's surreal, but not in an up its own arse kind of way, the surrealism serves to outline the the absurdity of this person's perception of his world. It's a masterful character piece, with not too much empathy for the main character imposed on the viewer. You might identify yourself with him or you might not, but that shouldn't ruin your viewing pleasure.

A sad story about the middle age man getting older, who didn't use opportunities of his life and now is filled with regret, trying to fulfil his emptiness inside with meaningless rituals.

>Mom bought brioches.
Brioches?
Brioches? For the supper?
You've probably lost your mind.
My ass!
You lost it a long time ago! You've always suffered from the womb rabies.
Go buy yourself a pin, and keep sitting on it. Maybe you'll get calmer.
Pig.
Twat!
I'm getting married.
With dog.
With shit.
