The stellar cast must rival any other film for most big names. Let's get it out of the way early - the film does not match the star power.

But it is very good.

The standout performance is Stallone. And Harvey Keitel shows us how great a screen presence he is. De Niro doesn't phone this one in despite it being a small role. And Liotta trades on his usual fare before he went awol.

Like I said, what a cast! And a really involving plot that sadly is possibly too slow burning for the first half of the film.

Not enough good can be said about Stallone in this film and at that stage of his career. His best work since the first Rocky and perhaps since... He has so much to work with here and his chops shine through.

I'd love to give extra marks for the great use of Springsteen (Drive All Night is just untouchable) but I won't.

The director's cut is the one to see.

Dark and gritty, Cop Land is a compelling and intense crime drama. When the sheriff of a small New Jersey suburb outside of New York City discovers that the cops living in his town are dirty and on the take from the mob he’s forced to take action. With an all-star cast that includes Sylvester Stallone, Harvey Keitel, Ray Liotta, and Robert De Niro, the performances are especially good. And, writer/director James Mangold does an impressive job at developing the characters and at building suspense. Additionally, the costumes and set designs help to create an authenticity that really helps to draw the audience into the time period of the film. Cop Land has some issues, but delivers a remarkably captivating thriller.

A very good police drama. It's enough to see the main crew and realize that the acting will not be a problem in this movie... old-school hollywood stars. The story is interesting, real and with not too much mystery elements, but again enough to watch the movie all the way through. The film's climax was not maybe the best one, but still satisfactory, also maybe a few unnecessary twists trough the movie... and that is why my rate is not better. And the last thing, I have to say that it was pretty strange to watch Rocky himself in this type of role, but he did a fine job. 7/10

I can't believe I had never watched this movie before. A star-studded cast, a descent script, and it is entertaining. Sylvester Stallone did a good job in his role. Honestly, im not sure why many critics had given him bad reviews for this film. If you haven't seen it, I would recommend giving it a chance before disregarding it. It's not in my top 20 of all time, but I definitely do not regret watching it.

Sly turns to an impressive cast to play the actor.

Quite good movie about cop-corruption with a Stallone with a slightly overweight Stallone.
