_Crystal Lake Memories: The Complete History of Friday the 13th_ is a comprehensive documentary that follows the franchise from its creation to the 2009 reboot. Various cast and crew from each of the films are interviewed, discussing how the films were made and some of their experiences. Additionally, campfire scenes are used to bookend the film, setting it up as a campfire tale, with Corey Feldman providing the narration. An impressive number of people come back to be interviewed, but there are some notable absences. Still, they do a good job at covering each film and include some fun behind-the-scenes stories. It’s a little long (clocking in at nearly 7 hours), but _Crystal Lake Memories: The Complete History of Friday the 13th_ is a must watch for any fan.

This is broken up by each movie and the Television show. Each movie gets around 45 minutes each. This documentary is a celebration of the franchise so any of the more controversial or negative aspects of the behind the scenes stuff or fan reactions to the movies are pretty much glossed over. I would have liked to hear more about the issues that surrounded the production of Part Five and the problems the franchise had with the MPAA ratings board and how that cut into how creative they got with the kills in the various films.

While not masterpieces or quality movies, but a lot of effort and joy went into making these movies.

I always like these type of documentaries where you get inside trivia from the stars themselves on the movies and their personal experiences on set. And don't let the run time scare you off, go and watch it.
