I'm not a fan of ninjas, but I liked this one....
The blood at times felt exaggerated....
And what level of sharpness did the katanas and others have, to cut the bone like that?
The story was a bit basic, but entertaining...
I didn't like the ending and the save, but well...
The clan thing was interesting and I wish they had given more moments about it...
But it's good...
8.5/10

This and Daft Punk were two of the coolest movies for me as a child. Me and my dad watched the hell out of it on TV and on the internet. Just rewatched it now and it's still kinda cool. I expected it to be a bit cheesy from what I remember but I was wrong, yes there are some cheesy scenes and dialogues but it's just the right amount. I wish there were a few more action scenes honestly (maybe movies like the raid and John wick have spoiled me). I was not expecting good cinematography but that last fight scene was cool af, just like I remember. The lead actor is also cool af. I was expecting the CGI to be really bad but honestly it wasn't that bad, very watchable.

I wish a good action movie director would make a ninja movie like this someday (with a bigger budget and better actors).

In short, cool movie for cool people.
7+1 for being my childhood. Gonna show it to my dad in a few days and let's see if he still likes it as much as he did back then.

Edit: Just found out this movie had the same action team as John Wick. That's dope. Here's the YouTube comment I came across:
For those who wonder, why this movie is so awesome: well, it was directed by the director of V for Vendetta, produced by the Wachowskies ( the creators of the Matrix trilogy) and all fights/stunts were choreographed by the 87Eleven Action Team, the people who created the John Wick movies, Atomic Blonde, Bullet Train etc. Hell, the tattoo artist who tels the Yakuza gang leader about the Ninjas, is the actor who played the "Keymaker" in Matrix Reloaded and the Doctor in John Wick 3.
And the idea was, to make a movie that is a hommage to oldschool Ninja movies Anime.

Don't watch this for the plot. If you want to be mildly entertained with bloody decapitations, then this is the movie for you!

Another one that I've watched multiple times. I admit that, as I get older, it gets more difficult for me to _"just disengage your brain and enjoy this"_ like I've said so many times about some of these hardcore action films. And granted, there were times here that, yes, it was hard to sit through it without just wanting to laugh at how ridiculous it was: ninjas armed with swords, fighting stars, and running around in pajamas actually able to fend off modern-day SWAT teams armed with high-grade assault weapons, etc etc... But again, sometimes you just want to watch the movie for the action, the fighting, the pure adrenaline rush that comes with all the on-screen violence, and this was (another) one of those times. I've seen it before - and enjoyed it then, too - and may very well watch it again. Is it absolutely awful when it comes to believability? Of course it is...but it's incredibly bloody, opens with a sequence that has you on the edge of your seat, and the roller-coaster never slows down. The acting was never going to win an Academy Award, but that's not why you watch these types of movies. Just sit back and enjoy the sheer bloodletting of it all and watch some of the best fight choreography you'll ever see. Don't go in expecting a deep, moving storyline; just good old martial arts violence, and you'll (probably) have a good time with this one.

PS:: This is not a horror movie, but it definitely needs a place on that _"Top Goriest Movies Of All Time"_ list that I've been working my way through. This was gruesome at its very best!

A plot that makes no sense and is as dull and as cheesy as the description sounds, cringy side characters, predictable and over he top gory and bloody. The premise is merely background noise for the action.
There's this ninja "army" that is incredibly expensive, taking years and years to train and it's wasted for absurd fight scenes against a single, rogue ninja. Because ninjas always fight in numbers, right?

Yet a decent, entertaining shut-your-brain-off action flick on a lazy evening including ninjas.

"Weakness compels strength. Betrayal begets blood. This is the law of the Nine Clans."

Ninja Assassin does exactly what you think when you hear about it. Ninja action. A lot of Ninja action. It is a tough business being a ninja. The course for being a good or even a decent ninja is pretty tough. Loads of punishment. Loads of training hours but if you make it. You can spray loads of CGI blood. I mean buckets of this stuff was used.

Anyway Ninja Assassin is still a fun friday night popcorn movie. You get Naomie Harris (I still don't know how she ended up in this), epic deaths, great use of weapons, a boss fights, loads of fights, even guns vs swords and everything is cropped in a decent running time. Yes, I didn't expect much of it when I saw this title coming along on HBO MAX but happy I was intrigued enough to watch it.

Ninja Assasin (2009) - ❤x6

This is nothing special. It's a standard ninja-revenge story. It has a few good fights which saves it in my opinion.

How I rate:
1-3 ❤ = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6 ❤ = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8 ❤ = I expect you will like this too
9-10 ❤ = movies and TV shows I really love!

Great fight scenes but the plot had huge holes and so much gratuitous blood!
