King of the Zombies

During World War II, a small plane somewhere over the Caribbean runs low on fuel and is blown off course by a storm. Guided by a faint radio signal, they crash-land on an island. The passenger, his manservant and the pilot take refuge in a mansion owned by a doctor. The quick-witted yet easily-frightened manservant soon becomes convinced the mansion is haunted by zombies and ghosts.

Pilot James 'Mac' McCarthy along with his two passengers, Bill Summers and Jefferson Jackson go off course somewhere between Cuba and Puerto Rico. He's unable to pick up any radio transmissions and crashed the plane on an island. After waking up, they follow the drum sounds that lead them to a mansion owned by Dr. Miklos Sangre who at first seems like a very nice man until they discover his sinister plan. I wasn't expecting to like this film at all but this is actually a decent low-budget horror that makes for an enjoyable night watch. It's definitely more silly than scary and sure has that dated stereotypical characters but it has interesting mystery to it, moves along quickly and has nice sense of atmosphere. Mantan Moreland as Jeff is without a doubt the star of this film as he's very capable of being genuinely funny. He fills the most runtime too which is great. Marguerite Whitten and Dick Purcell also deliver strong performances. Honestly they deserve to be in the poster artwork, not those 3 lame characters 😪.
