The animated children’s film Saving Santa is a whimsical holiday adventure that tries a little too hard. When the North Pole is attacked an aspiring inventor elf named Bernard attempts to save Santa by using Santa’s sled to travel back in time. Featuring Martin Freeman, Tim Curry, and Ashley Tisdale, the film has a solid cast. And there are a number of charming and festive musical numbers. However, the animation style is rather crude and the characters lack a sense of life. Saving Santa has some production issues, but it’s still an entertaining film with a bit of Christmas magic to it.
