I think this movie really depends on your taste, but I loved it. Such an unique drawing style and the music is perfect. This is definitely a movie I'll re-watch a couple of times.

It’s easy to get lost in the fantastic animation, but to me an even bigger selling point is the outstanding sound mixing and score. Technically it’s really something special and completely distinct from other animation studios. In terms of story it also rejects a lot of story conventions found in animated kids films. It subverts the hero’s journey, there are deeper layers about the history of Ireland and some of the story beats can get quite dark (or even abstract). It’s not necessarily unsuited for kids, but they’ll probably get more out of a Disney movie. I wish it took ten more minutes to flesh out some of its more skeletal characters, but this is a must watch for those who are into more experimental animation.

Wow, this is a piece of art. I am not particular an animation movie watcher I guess, that doesnt mean I don't don't like them, but there is only so many stuff you can watch. But this one has taken my breath away.
I couldn't shut my eyes, this was just so mesmerizing and pretty, one of a kind. Also, the story very sweet but also very dark. There is much stuff to think about, and I for sure will rewatch this movie more than just once.

Literally me watching this movie: www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGdcnt01Oco

Animation was gorgeous, but I didn't enjoy the story as much as the other movies in this trilogy. The story felt a bit disjointed, and the second part of the movie seemed a bit rushed. There wasn't enough of a focus on Brendan's journey and it wasn't made clear how the Book actually provided strength and helped the people survive and thrive through all of the northmen invasions.

Honestly, I was a bit disappointed.

The drawing style of this movie is very different. It seems to be a stylistic choice but at times it just felt like mediocre drawings. But the story itself is interesting. It just really jumps into it so you have to have a general idea of what's going because there's not a whole lot of explanation as far the "north" and who they're afraid of or why they're building the wall. You get some details later on but the beginning can be a bit confusing for kids who maybe don't understand what's happening

Should be named *The Book of Kells*. For something I had no expectations for I came out pleasantly surprised by the end even if some things didn't quite work for me. I was struggling to gain interest at the start but as soon as he entered the forest I was glued to the screen. How original is it that our main character embarks on an adventure to go get some ink to paint a book of all things. I found that heartwarming and it gave it a soul while staying true to kids and their imagination. Just a solid idea for a quest. Aisling and her forest are mysterious, that first introduction to the forest was my favorite moment. Absolutely beautiful animation, I love all the spirals and symmetry it's very satisfying to look at. Also, this movie knows how to mix colors, the black white red scenes are perfection. Beautiful score! It's so joyous in one scene but knows how to get dark in a split second which surprised me a few times. I wasn't as engaged with the story in the second half of the movie unfortunately but it did come together by the end.

the second half of the movie is a little bit to fast paced for my liking, it could've benefited from more time to flesh out Brendan journey.
