While this movie had all of the feel of an epic it still felt very unpolished. I had a hard time following the names and back story of the men in the central mystery. The scenes with Marion Cotillard's character felt very incomplete, almost as if there was a bigger story that was edited out. While Audrey Tautou is fantastic I couldn't help but think of how the movie reminded me of Atonement. That movie was far superior to this movie.

Well written dialogues and good cinematography. But the story was dull and incontinuos.

The original title of the film is Un long dimanche de fiançailles.

What a convoluted mess of a movie.
It's the typical case of a director being given free reign after having a major success.
