I really enjoyed this movie. It had a good story with some unexpected twists. Julia Roberts and Nicole Kidman are always a pleasure to watch and also the rest of the cast was brilliant.

A great movie with some good twists and turns. Julia Roberts is Always great in any role that she plays. Julia, Meryl Streep, Susan Sarandon and Angela Bassett are my favorite actresses. I liked this movie from start to finish. I never saw the Spanish version of which this movie was based on. Chiwetel is good in all of his roles too. I am not a big Nicole Kidman fan, but she has done some good roles and she is cute too. I first remember seeing Nicole years ago in a movie titled "Dead Calm" in 1989.

Very good surprise twist when Julia's {Jess} confesses at home to Ray and Claire that she killed him 13 years ago. I was thinking that it would end in a couple of minutes only to find that she did not kill him, but had him locked up in a self made prison in her home far out in the country where no one can hear him scream. Hum, I wondered after all the years she kept him alive, did she allow him to wash himself up, change his clothes once in a while otherwise he would stink so bad that she would not be able to stay near him.

I liked tension and sexual chemistry between Chiwetel Ejiofor {Ray} and Nicole Kidman {Claire}. You really knew that Ray had serious feelings for her after he nearly beats the suspect into a FUBAR.

Alfred Molina's {Martin} tells Ray that Harvard law don't date junior college, {great line}. It would have been great to see Martin walk in and find Ray and Claire in a romantic compromise which would have made Martin bitter and envious. That would have shut Martin's big mouth with the quickness.

It was disappointing that every time Ray and Claire were in a romantic scene there was an interruption by a cell phone or something to prevent the obvious attraction between them. After they held hands in the car, they should have kissed at least once to seal the deal between them.

The twist was really good, and the acting was pretty good, but the leaping all over the place in time was annoying. It's overdone now and early isn't the artistic or value add some of these directors and writers think it is. Honestly if you don't like that method of telling a story, this is easy too much and you'll end up seeing it as a 5 or less.

I liked the casting and just felt something was missing. They all seemed too stiff maybe? not sure.

6.8/10.

I haven´t seen the original so I can`t compare. So what if it is better ? I can only rate this as it is and I liked it. Good story, good pace and I liked the end.

Its no secret that Hollywood remakes of foreign films pale in comparison to the original. This is no different. However, for those who haven't seen the Argentinian original, this is a competent no frills thriller with a good cast.

_Secret In Their Eyes_ is a dark and disturbing psychological thriller. The story follows a former FBI agent who, after 13 years, has tracked down the killer of his best friend’s daughter and seeks to finally bring him to justice. Starring Chiwetel Ejiofor, Nicole Kidman, and Julia Roberts, the performances are quite good. And the script is well-written, doing an impressive job at building the investigation and paralleling the present and past storylines. However, the killer is underdeveloped; as he’s more of a passive character, with the focus being on the investigators. And the ending is a bit challenging; delving into some uncomfortable morally gray areas. Yet overall, _Secret In Their Eyes_ is an extremely provocative and enthralling crime drama.

Tenchnically decent and nicely acted, however it doesn't trascend too much, it's easily forgettable, and in regard to the original one, this movie hasn't the brilliant dialogues or the triller elements. This movie turned into the typical generic action cop movie.

When something works, it is best not to touch it, and the argentinian version by Campanella is far better. What happen with screenWriters in Hollywood? Are there no ideas?

The American version starring Chiwetel Ejiofor, Nicole Kidman, Julia Roberts, Dean Norris, and Michael Kelly in spite being star packed by no means rose to the level of its Argentine predecessor The Secret in Their Eyes, starring stars Ricardo Darín and Soledad Villamil and directed byJuan José Campanella, that won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film at the 82nd Academy Awards.
The American Version lacked the intensity and the utmost beauty of the Argentine movie..
Both movies are based on the novel La Pregunta de sus Ojos which roughly translates to The question in their eyes by Argentinian author Eduardo Sacheri. *Which is a must read in my humble opinion.
If you were lucky to watch the Argentine version then do not bother with this one cause it really truly pales in comparison and we will leave you filled with nothing but a big fat “Meh”.. Moving on
