Dark Crimes

Nothing wrong with Jim Carrey in this, it's just so bland.

Like most real-life stories, they're not enough to create suspense on the big screen.

For a 90 minute film it felt very long.

Well...it is dark... acting was actually good enough for this type of movie. You expect Jim Carrey in some crazy comedies, but i do like him in these roles also, when he plays f...ed up characters in non-comedies (remember The Number 23?). Anyway, story is interesting, but it is just that. I dont know how to explain, but its missing something. As i said, atmosphere is dark, but lack of music was a big problem for me. There are a few plot twists and that is important for this kind of mystery thrillers, but only if they are good ones. Are they good in this movie... well I will let you to decide on your own :) 5/10

Jim Carrey stars in the disturbing crime thriller Dark Crimes. Inspired by a true story, a police detective pursues a writer believing that his novel is a confession to a notorious murder. The plot is really hard to follow, as it takes a lot of turns and the character relationships aren’t always clear. Additionally, the tone is rather ugly and film has a grimy, dingy look. Also, the main character isn’t really that likable. Boring and monotonous, Dark Crimes is a poorly made film that’s too dark for its own good.

shi**y movie with nothing to do with the real case AND they used the "nymphomaniac effect", using the same actress. it's slow, obvious and, well... it has Jim Carrey. since he's tried to be a nice guy, it didn't work out. run away from it.

Pretty bland detective thriller. I was curious to see Carrey in another dark role, and figured that would at least carry the film, but nah... it's all stuff we've seen a million times before. Nothing really noteworthy. It doesn't help that Carrey constantly slips in and out of his accent. If you're thinking of seeing it based on him, leave it as a curiosity.

Jim Carrey is hilarious in his role as rubber-faced detective Tadek Ventura, in this laugh a minute farce that perfectly showcases his comedic tal...oh what am I saying. This is absolute twaddle - Carrey in a rare straight role is okay, but the film is dire. I don't mind films that are dark and gloomy, but this really is the worst. Dumb and Dumber To is no longer the worst film on Carrey's role sheet.
