This movie shook me to the bones. I had a ton of opportunities to read the book but I've always dismissed it as a boring angst/teen drama. I can't believe how wrong I was.
This movie is true beyond belief, I don't see a person without any psychological problem to write this. As a person with this kind of problems it hit me hard with relatability and insights about how it looks. I could say it grazed only the surface and it could dig more but in reality, psychological problems are hidden, by people suffering from them, their families, society, we don't talk about them, we dismiss them, we cannot express them in words. So the movie did its justice.
I really believed, at the beginning, that a movie starting so depressing have to end happy. It didn't and I coudn't believe it.
I think it hit me bc I have a similar problem as Finch did and in this, I saw one of the ways it could end. I'm so glad I watched it and I can't give it less than 10 stars.

For those who have problems with understanding the movie, just believe me, for some - it is exactly like that, and we can't sometimes understand it too. I'm gonna go read the book now.

oh my, now I read the book before going into this and absolutely loved it. I always have a problem with films based off some of my faves as they never end up being as good as the original source material.

I think one of the best things about this movie is the amazing casting of Elle Fanning and Justice Smith as Violet and Theodore. They brought out the true nature of the characters and they did it brilliantly.

One thing that I would loved to have seennis Theo's dad as I he wasn't truly exempt from the book which helped me more understand Theo's depression.

Warning, Major Spoilers Ahead:

This movie did a great job of showcasing the message of trying to be there for people. At the begining of the film we are led to believe that Violet is the one with the suicidal thoughts as the first time we meet her she is standing upon a ledge , getting ready to jump.
As the film progresses the attention is diverted from Violet as through Finch she has learnt to find some truly bright places. We then focus upon Finch as we truly see that he is the one who has been harbouring issues all of this time. I have read the book so I did know that he was going to commit suicide but it didn't make the scene of Violet finding out any less impactful. This movie is definitely worthwhile.

it was beautiful n so deep, i loved how at first of the movie they focused on the girl n the trauma she was living within, while actually we should have focus on finch cuz he was the screwed up one..
we should pay more attention to our frnds, family or any one surrounded by us, they might be smiling n all but deep down they need help
to all the bipolar folks STAY STRONG

I read the book last summer and was super excited to learn that a movie was in the works. Elle Fanning was a good choice in casting, she is sort of what I envisioned Violet Markey to look like. Finch was portrayed nicely by Justice Smith though he in no way resembles the Finch from the books, but that detail could be overlooked. What couldn't be overlooked was the lack of depth in the movie in comparison to the novel. A lot of backstory was left out and the altering of certain events was in my opinion a mistake. I feel like they focused to much on the blooming romance between Violet and Finch and not nearly enough on the mental health of both characters, making them feel a bit flat.
The movie could have done with a voice-over for both Violet and Finch since you follow their journeys in a similar matter through the novel.
I enjoyed the movie because I could fill in the blanks where I needed because I read the book. Casting was good, acting was good. Story wise it could have been lots and lots better.

When times are dark, and when all feels hopeless, remember all the bright places. And take solace in them with the knowledge that, while life can be hard and unbearable at times, there are more bright places to come, no matter how difficult that can be to imagine.

The film valiantly tries to explore the subject of mental illness, and while it meanders at times, it mostly succeeds in its telling. We don't know what other people are going through. We can become complacent within our attitudes to others. And we sometimes find ourselves in that hopeless position of regret, with those 'what if' thoughts that can trouble our mind.

A film that resonated with me on mutiple levels, with my own struggles and with the struggles that people close to me have undergone.

Seek help if you know you need it, and look after the people in your life, as they might just need your smile, your kind word, and your hand of support.

A dark but real movie. I won't lie it's quite depressing at time, but wonderful nonetheless. You'll laugh but mostly cry.
Justice Smith and Elle Fanning did a great job.

I'm just gonna say: Beautiful work. It feels heartbreaking, funny and completely REAL.

Incredible work from the cast. I could feel the same emotions that the characters had, that because Justice Smith and Elle Fanning had it clear, they wanted to made it seen real and that is what they did.
It's a very sad story (not gonna lie, I cried, a LOT), addresses sensitive and strong issues about death, depression, suicide, and certain mental disorders. However, it also tells us about how overcoming and knowing ourselves and finding ourselves.
So, if you are a very sensitive person, I don't recommend it. I warn you.

Not the best movie that I seen in this year but personaly, I enjoyed it crying and laughing a little bit.

All the Bright Places is a touching romantic drama with a powerful message. Elle Fanning stars as a troubled teenager dealing with her sister’s death who slowly begins to heal when one of her classmates befriends her and shows her the beauty in life, but she soon finds that he has troubles of his own. Both Fanning and her co-star Justice Smith give excellent performances. And the film does an impressive job at discussing mental illness and depression, along with how to appreciate the little things in life. Also, the soundtrack does an especially good job at setting the emotional tone. Remarkably well-crafted, All the Bright Places an extraordinarily compelling film.
