I said to my ol'lady, what movie you playin? She said, Never ending story... Out of the 10k movies we have access to..thats what you pick?? ... She replied fuck yeah! 'Merica!! ...so I fired up some of pac nw's finest and wtf??? ...this movie is good as hell still ... where's the pb cups?!

A fantasy flick of real quality!

I got to watch this at the cinema thanks to its release as part of its 40th anniversary, the second movie I've seen re-released on the big screen after 'Trainspotting' back in May. That Danny Boyle flick from 1996 is great, as is this Wolfgang Petersen feature from 1984. I wasn't sure what to expect, I only knew of its genre and that famous theme song.

One of the first things to note about 'The NeverEnding Story' is how well it has aged, it looks awesome. The practical effects still look top quality and are super effective, I watched 'Big Trouble in Little China' yesterday and that has aged rather poorly in the effects department - and was released two years after this!

I really loved seeing the world come to life. The effects are a big reason for that, though this shows the importance of getting strong voice actors. Alan Oppenheimer is fantastic in the roles of Falkor, Gmork and Rockbiter, credit to Robert Easton as Morla too. As for the 'normal' actors, Sydney Bromley, Moses Gunn and Tilo Prückner are excellent in their respective roles.

Younger actors Barret Oliver, Noah Hathaway and Tami Stronach all do good work. I could've done without, and this my only thing close to a criticism (which it even isn't), the constant leaps back to the reader (Oliver's Bastian), it's not bad but sometimes doesn't feel necessary; less is more, sorta thing.

A brilliant film, one with an edge to it as well... 🕊🐎

The Neverending Story is a magical film with an enchanting and imaginative story. The film follows a young boy named Bastian who begins to read a mysterious book but soon finds himself becoming an interactive part of the story. The characters are especially captivating, and feel real and unique to the world of Fantasia. And, the story has an inspirational message about the power of imagination and the part that fantasy plays in our lives. The Neverending Story holds up as a beloved classic, and endures as a fun and enjoyable family film.

The effects and creatures do seem a bit, hum... kitsch? But the story is so good. I really need to read the book.

I liked it when I was a child and I keep doing. Really a "must see"

A classic fantasy adventure movie about a fantasy world that risks being destroyed because humans stop dreaming of and believing in fantasy worlds with technology replacing more and more the need for fantasy. A great fantasy story that is excellently made into an excellent movie. Great for kids and adults alike.

I wish I had a luck dragon to fly with. This movie honestly has a really good structure in how it was able to mix reality with fiction. Also, the practical effects are amazing.

Carried by some iconic set pieces and creatures, not to mention the themesong, _The Neverending Story_ is a fun family fantasy film that is lifted by its visuals despite it lacking somewhat in the character-depth department.
