This is a blast. Really the interaction between father and son was beautiful. The whole movie feels real, thanks partly to a great shooting but also to Kiefer Sutherland being that conflicted man seeking peace if not redemption. Honestly there is no small acting par in there, and all of them do a great job. I would highly recommend that you watched that, because it's really one of the great drama of 2016. This should get Oscars nominations, for photography, acting and giving the viewers a real good fucking time :)

This almost went under my radar. While the plot may sound stereotypical the execution isn´t. Great camara shots and angles. And the way the story is unfolding is at the right pace. It has every element of the classic western but this goes way deeper. I never pictured Kiefer in a Western setting but he delivers a great performance as does his father.
Again, I must add, don`t be put off by the rating.

Okay, yes super predictable plot. It's a Western. They're all super predictable plots. The writing could've been better. Almost all westerns could have better writing. The last time I saw a Western with amazing writing was John Wayne in "The Cowboys". Like "The Cowboys" there's a twist at the end, a tiny bit unpredictable. Pretty sure it's been done before, but decent nonetheless. Not as big as the plot twist in the movie I mentioned, but a nice kick.

That being said, for a Western, this is well acted, maybe a little dry at points. Demi Moore's role is pretty small, but it's a Western and definitely focuses like most on the male side. She's actually kinda a highlight in the movie. Might have been spectacular it they could've focused just a little more on her character. Everything else seems about spot on for a decent western.

I don't think it could've been a 9. Westerns have been overdone and always focus too heavily on the standard fair. But solid 8. Really enjoyed it over all.

This could have been great. Strong primary cast, very weak supporting cast and no clear antagonist. Landon Liboiron wasn’t a good casting decision. Definitely not gritty enough for that role.

Another thing that would have made this better would have been a grittier look. It was “too clean” looking.

The angle with Demi Moore was wasted as well.

It was a good watch, but it could have been much, much better.

The Sutherlands acting together is a plus. Good movie, good story and excellent camera.

Just one moment that caused some emotional reaction (
church scene, when the son explains what he has done
), isn't really enough to make this a good movie. Solid story, solid performances, average movie.

Good to see father and son working together, but this old-fashioned western follows a predictable path. Doesn't achieve legendary status, but its enjoyable enough.

I wasn’t a major fan of this. The dialogue seems forced, the plot is completely predictable, and I just don’t buy Kiefer as this badass gunslinger. He throws some evil glares which had me chuckling away.

Saying that, there are some beautiful shots. The scale just felt really small and the movie very clunky.

3/10
