Ferdinand

Ferdinand, a little bull, prefers sitting quietly under a cork tree just smelling the flowers versus jumping around, snorting, and butting heads with other bulls. As Ferdinand grows big and strong, his temperament remains mellow, but one day five men come to choose the "biggest, fastest, roughest bull" for the bullfights in Madrid and Ferdinand is mistakenly chosen. Based on the classic 1936 children's book by Munro Leaf.

Admittedly, I wasn't really looking to watch this movie, just pass the time by; but it was actually a great film, definitely a must-watch if you have young ones who also enjoy good, kid-friendly laughs.

Absolutely magnificent. A story for adults and kids.....the true story of bullfighting. Enough with this brutality. I love Spain and respect everyone's customs but this is the true story behind the graphic. Well done !

Yes it was cliche, but at least we have a movie that brings awareness to iberian bull fighting. As a portuguese citizen, it's something I really would like to see changed but it's still controversial. It's torture used as entertainment but it's defended as part of the culture.
It's sad that it wasn't a strong hit here, I really felt that the carnation was on purpose.

Really adorable, with some deeper story parts, lots of funny parts, and a whole lot of found family. Ferdinand is such a charming character, and the supporting cast absolutely carries (Kate McKinnon as Lupe and David Tennant as Angus in particular!). Loved the message that wanting something different than "what you are made for" is okay and that boys (and bulls) can be gentle, too. The human characters are pretty plain and I feel like the brutality of the farm owner was a bit underplayed at the end, but still a cute movie!

Although the cast and directing choices weren't the best I think the story told here was great.

Based in a book of 1936 and sadly we still have bull rides in Spain. Poor Ferdinand did not change reality. Nice movie, quite enjoyable with some funny moments for children.
