One of my top three favorite Zombie movies along with the Dawn of the Dead (1978) and I am Legend. People seem to be very polarized on this one so it’s likely you’ll love it or hate it. Either way it is incontestably a well made film.

First impression: Start this film with the volume turned almost completely off. Dang, the background noise/sounds...I suppose they're intended to "add atmosphere" or whatever to the scenes but they're so annoying that I was seriously tempted to turn this off in the first ten minutes. It's hard to make heads or tails of - at the very least - the opening few scenes of this simply because the background volume is nothing but an overbearing, incessant droning of mechanical sounds that make it almost impossible to concentrate on what's actually happening on-screen. If you can tolerate the first seven (7) minutes like that, it calms down and becomes a very interesting film...certainly different than anything I've seen to date. Unfortunately, you have to wait until almost the halfway mark (47 minutes in) before you start to get the backstory. (Unfortunately, even though the backstory is "interesting" and unique, it's a physiological impossibility, but then, this is Hollywood so anything can happen no matter how far-fetched, right?) I have to give major props to Sennia Nanua ("Melanie") for her superb acting from start to finish. No idea who she is, or how old, but WOW!... she was utterly incredible. Absolutely amazing. The movie itself has to rank as simply THE BEST "zombie" movie I have ever watched. This was a masterpiece from start to finish, as far as the story goes. The acting was great throughout, with stellar acting from Glenn Close (of course) and Paddy Considine. If you're a fan of horror, you simply have to watch this. I don't know what I was expecting, but this far exceeded those expectations and turned out to be one of the best films ever. The opening few minutes are extremely noisy and overbearing but again, if you just turn the volume down for about the first seven minutes, the reward of the remainder of the film is well worth it. This was superb.

A refreshing take on the zombie genre. A remarkable similarity in theme to the PS4 game The Last of Us, the landscape to the film is one of devastation and disease. I don't want to spoil anything in the film so will leave story details absent. However, be prepared for a heart wrenching tale that will make you question yourself should you be in the scenario of the characters in the film.

This film has all the gifts - acting, directing, story, music - and then some.

Remember _Ex Machina_ from last year? Yeah, this is that movie's Zombie-counterpart of 2016. Some people will watch it, everyone will like it, no one will talk about it. It has great acting, lovable characters, and it's exploring a concept that's been done many times, in a different and special way.

I liked this movie a lot. Great acting, great pacing and good ending. At least not the typical US movie where the world is save and the man get his woman. I liked that we see everything with the eye of the child (there's no background or introduction of any character).
And the acting of Sennia Nana was perfect human but not human.

I can't believe it! I got sucked into a zombie movie! I draw the line at Zombie movies - no Walking Dead for me! And, now, here I am. It began with me excitedly following the listings of the 2017 British Independent Film Nominees. This movie was voted 3rd with 5,281 votes. I looked over the synopsis, saw the cast, and thought, "I've never heard of this but it has a good cast and an interesting hook. Let's give it a try." I was well into the movie before the big reveal and by then it was too late. I was totally captivated! This is a good movie, great talent, great performances (Sennia Nanuet is a new talent to be reckoned with), interesting philosophical dilemma, poignant relationships, excruciating human choices, unexpected twists and resolves. I give this film an 8 (great) out of 10, and apologize to all my friends with whom I may have just lost all credibility.

Everyone who said this is another cookie cutter Zombie movie obviously didn’t pay attention. The closest intelligent Zombie I’ve seen was I am legend and they weren’t even close (ok, there have been some comedy Zombie movies that had them, but this is no comedy)! And that ending!!! Mind blown!
Would’ve rated higher if the middle part had a little more action or if the ending with the “others” (don’t want to spoil it who they are) actually happened earlier.

I'm glad I expected less because it gave me much more than that. This is what The Last of Us serie should be. It is very intriguing from the beginning to the end. I wouldn't mind if it was longer, with even more suspenseful and war scenes. But it's okay because it is a very well balanced movie that have a little of everything you would want to see in a apocalyptic movie. Really worth the watching.

Loved the experimentation idea in the beginning. The zombie mother pushing around the baby with rats in it was genius, along with the idea that zombie women had half zombie babies eat their ways out. Hated the ending which is why I’m docking points
