Kill Command

Set in a near future, technology-reliant society that pits man against killing machines. Against this backdrop an elite army unit is helicoptered to a remote, off-the-grid island training facility. What starts out as a simple training exercise for Captain Bukes and his tight-knit unit, descends into a terrifying battle to the death, as the marines discover the island is overrun by an enemy that transcends the human concept of evil.

Bad script, great special effects!
Considering this movie had a tiny budget of only 1.4 million dollars it is way more value for it's money than you'd normally expect. Even the acting is not something to complain over, if only it had a more interesting script and it probably would've been in my top list of 2016.

Good movie. The ending was stupid and makes it known that the director/writer knows nothing of code execution...

I can't add to what has already been said on this page. The special effects were great, the story was not. Still, for the budget, the filmmakers need to be commended on a good effort. They just need to work on the script next time.

A good film with an intriguing story, but it fails to keep the viewer fully engaged. The lack of explanations and some senseless elements detract from the film, as does the shallow development of characters, which makes it hard to empathize with them—resulting in deaths that don't have a significant emotional impact. Despite this, I don't consider the film bad; it has its positives, such as the protagonist, well-done special effects, an interesting concept, and satisfying action scenes.

Kill Command reminded me so much of the late 80s / early 90's movie of military robots going rogue. Sure, it wasn't set in space like they were. And sure the special effects were slicker, especially the robots. But it is still the same overly simplistic story with the same twists added that the script writers don't seem to have noticed every movie of this genre has.

But it is hard to call it retro - there is no specific reference to it's predecessors - almost as if they crew didn't want to acknowledge the long history of this recycled storyline

Is it worth watching? Well, for me, I watch those rubbish movies, so yes. But for most, life won't be improved with this 90 minute investment of your time.

I think the actors did their level best to put believable characters on screen after being given very little to work with by a mediocre script. There's a lot of focus on the robot battles, but the characters seem underdeveloped.
The visual effects could be called impressive given the small budget this film had to work with, but visual effects are kind of the easy part of filmmaking these days—the software has already been written, you just have to use it.
Scriptwriting is the hard part, and this story could have said so much more. It started to develop characters in the first act, but once the action started all character work basically fell by the wayside. It's too bad, really—there's a kernel of good world-building in here that was never really utilized.

Tagline for the film: "We'll fix it in post."

They lied.

About 20 minutes in, still wasn't engaged, about the time a soldier walks backwards into the grip of a killer robot. Wound up skipping to the militarized robot scenes as the effects are the only thing worth watching in "Kill Command". A good story and better pacing could've compensated for the lackluster plot and inexperienced actors.

Visually really good. The batlle scenes are OK but what was the purpose of all this ? Where is the story and the meaning?

The director has a VFX company - maybe he wanted to just show what he can do with small budget.
