What a cast! And what a tragically funny story. Highly enjoyed that and to think who's careers all got kick-started by that paper... pretty amazing.

A movie that sort of plays like a documentary - but it works. Funny and interesting. Wasn't sure what I was getting into when I sat down to watch, but definitely recommend it. Solid 8/10

At once fittingly irreverent while falling into some genre conventions, this is an enjoyable (and ultimately moving) biopic of a very funny man. Oh, and the guy was right... Caddyshack isn't that great a movie!

Between the amazing cast and the subject material, it was highly unlikely that I'd dislike this film. And I genuinely liked it for the first 2/3. It was a fun, funny, and interesting look at the start of National Lampoon and the cast of characters that made it what it was. However, the third act had a weird tonal shift that softened the comedy and got a little too serious compared to the rest of the film. I know it had some heady material to touch upon near the end, but it just didn't quite click with me how it was presented. But I'll consider that a minor quibble with an otherwise quite entertaining film.

This was a docudrama (?) about the life of National Lampoon co-founder Doug Kenney. I think what might be more interesting than the film are the choices that the director chose to make with this film. I heard an interview with him on Penn Jillette's broadcast - he said that he was generally not a fan of breaking down the fourth well but that it quickly became obvious that the wall needed to come down hard and often. It's a good watch.... I don't know how else any semblance of this man's entire life could have been told any other way. If you're interested in the subject matter I highly recommend the book as it filled in a ton of details.

I cancelled watching this after 40 minutes. It just doesn't click with me, and I don't find it funny. Interestingly unlike some other commentors, I felt the actors were pretty horrible.
I must admit, however, I did expect more something like National Lampoon's whatever special movie.
