Brilliant. It gets its arms around a lot of concepts (social codes and identity in the workplace; selling out; institutional racism; unionization), but it still pulls it off with flying colors and feels cohesive. Perfectly acted and directed, good characters, sharp satire and comedy, great use of sound, itโs absurd and weird but always with a clear intent, unpredictable. Really exceptional stuff.
9.5/10
I got to see a preview of this film.
The plot on the outside is _NOTHING_ as it seems. Like quite literally. And it's a happy refreshing surprise and a good take on a SciFi and political film that one needed this year.
I'd heard this was weird but wasn't quite prepared for THIS weird. Loved it. A HUGE middle finger to the status quo. "Sorry to bother you!"
The more I think about this movie, the more I like it... The horse stuff was pretty fucked up... Need to parse that a bit more.
super weird, funny and trippy at times. The beginning tells a story and then you see the rise. I love movies that are different and this one is pretty different. I like it. 9/10
This movie is the definition of subverted expectations ๐๐
Holy shit! I like everything about this film, it was incredible. If I absolutely had to pick a favourite scene it would be
the lost perspective mary j blige one tho
with Thompson when she's explaining why she picked Africa.
A bit of Get Out, a bit of Okja. Great acting, great movie.
I am heavily invested in wanting to see this movie. I think cast is compelling the plot what little of it I saw looks interesting. Will say more in July when it comes out.
Well, now I know what it would look like if BoJack Horseman was realโฆand naked.
I don't get why some comments say there's a part with "social commentary" and then a part when the movie "gets weird" as if the second couldn't say anything about society.
