A very good movie that gets a 10 from me.

Essentially a good remake of the classic 1973 movie with Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffmann. While the make is close to the original in quality and the performance of Rami Malek is also up to par with the original, the question iOS, why they made this remake. The original movie is still the better one and it still works. So why the remake?

Decent remake which goes further than the original with an ending that tied up the film nicely.

An efficient adaptation of Charrie's autobiography, but while the actors are good, it pales in comparison to the earlier movie. Still worth a watch, tho if you haven't seen the original, I highly recommend it.

My favorite actors Charlie Hunnam and Rami Malek gave a brilliant performance, I could feel the strong relationship you can have with someone in a context of survival and a quest for freedom. The ending was touching, sometimes we have to let go of the people we care about for their own good and well-being. Freedom is priceless.

wanted to watch this movie cuz of Rami Malek mainly, but also Charlie Hunnam, truly doesn't disappoint, easily one of my new favorite actors right now
i loved the 19th century look this movie had, always love seeing movies in such a setting, _theeeen_ he gets framed and is sent to prison, alright.
the guillotine scene was heavyyy.
but overall, the story of Dega & Papillion's teamwork, trust, & resilience, and the fact that he went through all those years of solitary, not once, but twice, and managed to escape at the end and live a free man; what a story

An intense and emotional true story that many may not know about. The performances by Charlie Hunnam and Rami Malek are outstanding, and the amazing visuals and thrilling action sequences add to the overall cinematic experience.

I think here they struggled to really illustrate the passage of time somehow; it didn't feel like he had spent 5yrs in confinement. I know it was terrible conditions and yes he was wrongly imprisoned for murder, but, he was a well known thief; so it seems - just saying!
