I'm a hard person to scare but this one is good. I love the mystery of the story but to be honest, as a minister and a believer, demon, evil and Satan is real but if you know who you are and what you are in God's son Jesus Christ, the 3 evil personas will never rule you. Christ already won over him (Satan). All you have to do is believe, claim and act on his promise. He, his word and his love is greater than these evils. One day. Love this movie. Awesome.

Not sure why this movie gets such a bad rap; I enjoyed it quite a bit, myself. It should be noted here, however, for the diehard "horror" aficionados that I would consider "The Nun" more of a _suspense_ movie than actual horror. Granted, there are some scary "jump out of your seat" scenes, but overall, it's the overwhelming feeling of suspense and "you know it's coming" that makes this movie a good watch, IMO. Contrary to a lot of other reviews, I didn't find it "plodding" or slow...okay, well, yeah at times, it was pretty sluggish...but as an overall story, I found it a decent watch. The other movies in the franchise will scare the bejabbers out of you; this one only does that in one or two places, which is why I feel it should be seen more as a great psychological suspense movie. The scenery and overall cinematography was outstanding and the acting was - again, just my opinion - quite good. I'm watching the entire franchise again from the beginning, so maybe watching this **_first_** skewed my opinion, compared to others, but I found this to be a very watchable movie so long as you don't go into it expecting true horror (translation: not a lot of gore). Good enough that I'll watch it again! :thumbsup_tone2:

Don’t get the hate for this one. As I watch all of the Conjuring movies in order for the first time, so far this is one of the better ones. Freaky as hell. Nun design is great. Good characters. Good stuff

Just started watching The Nun as the first movie of the sequel from 'The Conjuring Universe' (in the chronological order). The scenes of the first night at the church where so cool! Loved the story about the portal and the church in general.
Still halfway through the movie and loving it. Have to admit though, religious movies are my favorite kind of horror movies.

The latest in The Conjuring series, _The Nun_ is an incredibly terrifying horror film. The story follows a priest and a nun in training who are sent to investigate a Romanian nunnery in which a nun was found dead of an apparent suicide, but they soon discover an evil presence and begin to suspect that there’s more going on than there appears to be. Both Demian Bichir and Taissa Farmiga give strong performances and director Corin Hardy does an especially good job at creating an atmospheric tone that’s full of suspense. Additionally, the writers build the mystery of what happened at the nunnery fairly well and find a clever way to tie the story into the other Conjuring films. A bone-chilling supernatural thriller, _The Nun_ is one of the best entries in the series.

_The Nun_ serves its purpose as a puzzle piece in the Conjuring universe. If you wanted more time with Valak or if you just like spooky, demonic horror, this is a good watch.
A little slim on plot, but what do you want? A Priest, and a nun, travel to Romania to investigate the death of a nun. What they find is a sinister force. The movie has a high budget - by horror standards, great acting, an eerie score, it's dark and creepy. Okay, there is some humor from the character, Frenchy, and I hate humor in horror, but it is so quick as to barely be there.
I absolutely love supernatural horror, especially when it involves demons or Satan. If that's what you like, you won't be disappointed.

This is my rewatch since I have seen it years ago upon its released. As listed in the Conjuring Chronicles, this film should be seen first since the story evolved around 1952 and this Nun would come out often in the Conjuring sequels. There were a lot of jumpscares and her scary staring face is always present during Halloween, so this film is not that bad.
