Sequel

Nowhere near as good as the 1st one. I think they spent too much time on special effects and less time on storytelling and actual escape plans. Still rated it high just because.

What was the budget for this movie? 1 million? Did 80% go to Stallone? Anyway, this movie felt more like a setup for a franchise. Here meet the next top guy. Here meet our bad guy in the dark/behind the scene. Here, this is our notice that we're going after him so there might be another movie or a bunch more.

I liked the role Xiaoming was given and he could be considered the main hero in this one, as he gets a lot of screentime, but did he have to be so OP? Even Stallone doesn't get that much fighting in.

Keeping all of this in mind... The movie isn't that great. I can't say that this is a must watch movie. The only way I'd recommend it, is IF a part 3 comes out and you're someone that likes to watch things in a certain order. I did enjoy the movie for what it was.

To try and sell this movie, Stallone and Bautista got top billing. But 2nd rate television stars or just no names get most the scenes in this movie.
Probably worse then when all the old school action stars stepped aside for wannabe action stars in Expendables 3. Well, almost as bad as that.

Written by Asians, for Asians. This was just a very weak story with a few fight scenes thrown in, a different prison from _Escape Plan_ and nothing else going for it. ZERO character development and the opening scene was so frenetic that I was tempted to turn it off before it even really got going. The cast was so helter-skelter that it was hard to follow who did what, and much of what little "story" there was just made absolutely no sense. I mean, you _knew_ it was going to be a revenge thing almost from the get-go, but even with that knowledge, this just didn't play out well. I used to think "Batista" - the pro wrestler - was absolutely awesome but unfortunately, Dave Bautista and his huge physique doesn't translate to the big screen as an accomplished actor. And even though this was headlined by Sylvester Stallone, his character just wasn't enough to override the shallow storyline, the lame acting, and the absolutely horrible dialogue. I enjoyed the original - although it certainly doesn't rank among my all-time "favorites" - but this...I would give this a pass. The only positive it had going for it was the 90-minute runtime but even that seemed like too long to have to endure this. Avoid this one; it's a waste of time and oxygen.

This is a boring, failed attempt at a sequel to a very impressive first film. The story is flat, offers no explanations for most of the plot and surprisingly has some pretty dire CGI. If you enjoyed the first one, don't waste your time with this sequel. The "escape plan" doesn't really make sense and it's genuinely hard to enjoy.

A low-budget straight to video sequel, Escape Plan 2: HADES is a major departure from the original. While attending a bachelor party with his cousin, Breslin Security consultant Shu is abducted and held prisoner at a black site called HADES, and while he works to escape his team realizes what’s happened and starts looking for him. The plot doesn’t make a whole lot of sense and is full of bad clichés. Sylvester Stallone takes a backseat to Chinese marshal artist/film star Huang Xiaoming, who really doesn’t have any charisma. Also joining the cast are David Bautistia and Jaime King. Escape Plan 2: HADES has none of the tension and suspense of the first film, and nothing fresh or exciting to offer.

The first movie was great, but this one has boring characters and bad and unnecessary CGI effects.

This film has nothing going for it. I mean even Expendables 3 is better!
