The monster was a Titan from Greek Mythology. Saturn (Cronos), the most famous Titan, ate all of his children. One child devised a plan.
“Cronus learned from Gaia and Uranus that he was destined to be overcome by his own sons, just as he had overthrown his father. As a result, although he sired the gods Demeter, Hestia, Hera, Hades and Poseidon by Rhea, he devoured them all as soon as they were born to prevent the prophecy. When the sixth child, Zeus, was born Rhea sought Gaia to devise a plan to save them and to eventually get retribution on Cronus for his acts against his father and children.”
Zeus made him puke up all of his brothers and sisters, and imprisoned Cronos.
If we start digging in the ocean, and find a Titan, I am going to have to quit life.
This movie surprised me a lot, I thought it would be another classic about a giant shark threatening the lives of humans but it's much more than that, I loved the whole story of the movie and all the characters, especially kristen. would definitely watch again. loved the lovecraft touch.
I like this a lot more than I reasonably should.
It's by no means a cinematic masterpiece but it's a solid thriller that hold the suspense throughout.
If you wanted to be kind you could call it a homage to Alien as they basically copied the Alien plotline and set it under water.
As an Alien fan I guess that would be reason enough to hate it but I can't since they have done it really well and Kristen Stewart tackles the legacy of Commander Ripley spectacularly well.
Stewart totally nails it as a badass mechanic with a grudge against the world and the rest of the cast delivers as well.
Thoroughly enjoyable.
Its a Great movie, I like it
Really liked this "Alien" meets Lovecraft-style story. It felt like a throwback Sci-Fi/Horror tale. You'd think in a place as large as the ocean, there wouldn't be so many claustrophobic moments but there were plenty of tight spaces, from a collapsed drilling station to the pressurized suits that allowed the characters to traverse the ocean floor.
The final monster is quite a spectacular creature. It's where the Lovecraftian touches come into play.
I didn’t expect Slenderman meets Alien underwater, but that’s what I got from this movie. Pleasantly surprised after looking at the poor reviews.
Ok so it's not an 8 lol but I'm a sucker for big monster movies and its waaaaay better than the Meg and Sharknado 1 thru Eleventeen... higher marks for Twilight chick goin out with her boots on
Lovecraft like story it could be in space or any unknown territory where humans are not automatically on top of their environment. Original?? no not at all but very entertaining and good cast
A tense claustrophobic disaster film under the guise of science fiction. Kristen Stewart is excellent throughout.
As someone who loves horror, and the deep sea not being used in horror that much, I loved this movie if not just for the idea of being that deep underwater. While most of the scares are just about the water, there are times in which it isn't just the water the characters are afraid of.
