I love the strong female lead in this one her presence is strong enough to hold the entire movie she reminded me of G.I Jane/Bruce Willis when it came to getting physical and she had me on the edge of my seat in all her confrontations. The story almost had me end the movie early but she kept me holding on all props to the female lead
This hasn't gotten great ratings but I think it was a good, no frills, thriller, well executed.. The cast is solid (there are few better than Noomi Rapace and Indira Varma) and Sophie Nelisse, a newcomer to me, was sympathetic in her role. I give this a 7 (good) out of 10. [Action Thriller]
Not that it's a big deal, but it's entertaining, although in the end it degenerates, well performed by Noomi Rapace
Whether you enjoy this movie or not is really going to depend on how much "bad" (bad writing, bad plot, bad characterisation, bad acting) you're willing to get through in order to experience the "good" (Noomi Rapace, the four major action set pieces).
Rapace is wasted on this script, but at least the movie gives me hope that she could lead a kick-ass action movie in the future.
The direction of the action sequences is surprisingly clear and simple (in a good way) by today's standards.
Everything except Rapace and the main set pieces is rather poor however. At least the movie's not that long (though it feels longer than it is, because the character spend 75% of the movie doubling back to prior locations).
_Close_ is a decent movie with an okay plot and fair acting performances. The storyline is somewhat ridiculous and falls short in producing the realism that the film intends to create. While the movie tries to depict a gripping and intense plot, it struggles to deliver it convincingly. Nonetheless, what keeps this movie afloat are the action and gun battles, which are well executed and thrilling to watch. Overall, if you're looking for an action-packed movie to kill some time, _Close_ is worth a watch, but don't expect it to be anything more than that.
Some major plot holes, mostly regarding bodyguard duties, which I admittedly know nothing about.
Overall, tho, not a great movie but not a bad one, either.
Another film where Noomi Rapace looks ripped, smokes and kicks ass.
Well, that was a film. I won't remember a bit of it 24 hours from now. It feels under-produced and low budget. The script is needlessly back and forth about who the villains are. It's not suspenseful - it's annoying. There's also an unnecessary sub-plot about Sam's personal life.
Feels like 2:30, but only 1:35. A waste of good actors.
I bet there's a TV pilot hiding in there if a good editor got access to the footage.
Good performances, but not an interesting enough plot to grip me
