oh my, I absolutely loved this. The two main actresses fit into their roles perfectly. I'm very aware of Chloe's acting ability but she still continues to surprise me with the pure range she actually has.
one thing that annoyed me about this film however, though this does stem to other films like this, is how nobody listens to Frances when she is telling them there is a creepy woman stalking her. They only listen when she goes missing.
This film can definitely make you uneasy so do be aware of that. However it is definitely worth the watch if you're not easily creeped out!
It is impossible to say for sure whether you will like this film or not, but I can say with confidence that it will definitely make you nervous and will keep you on your toes for a very long time. An ordinary leather bag becomes the beginning of unpredictable events. I had planned to see this film for a long time, but put it off. Now, after watching, I am greatly impressed by what I have seen. The excellent performance of the main actresses also deserves respect.
I liked this one. There's something original about how the story is told.
The beginnings a little clunky but it soon descends into a juicy psycho-thriller, reminiscent of those stalker movies that were prevalent in the 90's. Huppert is chillingly brilliant, closely matched by Moretz's put-upon girl in peril.
_Greta_ is a familiar friend who comes to visit, and though she hasn't changed a bit, her outfit is new and stylish.
I consider _Greta_ to be a tribute to the stalker films of the late 80s / early 90s (_Fatal Attraction_, _The Hand that Rocks the Cradle_, _Single White Female_) with all of the WTFs removed. Neil Jordan (_The Crying Game_) delivers a solid thriller that you'll like if you remember it's meant to be suspense and not horror.
Lol what a creep. I like movies like this though, straight forward and easy to understand, not too detail heavy or confusing. Perfect for when you're doing something where you can't pay every ounce of attention to the movie and still come out feeling like you got the general gist of what happened.
Unconvincingly put together, yet 'Greta' still somehow works.
I felt watching that the film skipped a few steps in regards to the titular character, I wasn't buying how quickly things turned for the worse. The score in particular felt overdone, while Frances' reactions seemed a little overblown; at least based on what Greta had initially done. Then you also have the high convenience of the plot device, as well as a few stupid decisions made by the lead character (why go in the basement?!).
With all that said, I can't help but say I did still enjoy it narrowly enough. Isabelle Huppert plays Greta very nicely, while Chloë Grace Moretz gives one of the best performances i've seen from her (based on 11 flicks) as Frances. Maika Monroe is a good cast member too. The short run time probably helps, as the pacing is relatively solid.
Against the odds, I'd consider this a movie worth watching.
Love the cast and concept, unfortunately it ends up being pretty average. If you like thrillers or this plot sounds interesting, you will probably enjoy your time with it. If you don’t, this isn’t anything to sway you.
Rating: 3/5 - 75% - Worth Watching
The third act redeems the whole film somewhat, it certainly breaks up the repetition of the first half. Not Neil Jordan's best, but it's far from his worst
Well that was a dark twisted film, it was a good, acting from the cast was decent but would of loved a little more to the ending, felt a little rushed.
