nice storytelling with very good closure
as someone who loved the book i thought it was a solid adaptation. it wasnt heavy and it didnt feel that long.
glad that they cut the last scene from the book
I loved this movie. It moved me from beginning to end. The actors young and old were fantastic. Watching this movie has made me add the book on to to read list and it will be even better, with more depth and emotion. I can't wait. #TheGoldfinch
Genuinely don’t understand the hate for this film. I thought it was pretty solid. I was moved. Great cinematography.
If you liked the movie, I suggest you try the book or audio to get a better feel for the characters and story. It's a long book. and even at 2.5h it's hard to do it justice. I loved the audio, and I also liked the movie.
This was a very good story but something about the filmmaking aspect was off. There were definitely some wonderful aspects about the film but there were other elements that just didn't work. Things I have a difficult time putting my finger on. At first, I thought some of the acting was dreadful which didn't make a whole lot of sense to me because I know these people can act. Plus, what seemed off about the acting was pretty consistent at times between several of the actors. That told me that it was probably the director who pushed them to act in a particular style that just didn't work. When the acting was bad, the scenes came off almost surreal which did nothing to enhance the story. Also, the music was dreadful. The soundtracks were good and very fitting but it was the score that I found very annoying. Almost like a ambient horror flick score, if you can imagine that. It ended up sounding cheesy. All in all, a real shame because I believe that this could have and should have been a good movie.
Genuinely enjoyed this movie though the father plot line was not needed. We knew he was a dick, we didn’t need proof. I much would have preferred a parallel Boris story to show their lives running into each other. That would have been much more interesting. Nicole Kidman was a waste, as was Owen Wilson.
A good film with a strong young and old casting of the characters and I enjoyed the plot.
I'm not familiar with the Pulitzer prize-winning novel the film is based on, and I know that the film has received criticism for failing to do it justice. However, the novel was deemed unfilmable, so while I don't know how they fully compare, I do think the director made a good film regardless of its origins. Admittedly, the last half an hour was a little muddled, and I'm still a bit confused as to what fully happened, but overall, I had a good time with this, and am now tempted to check out the novel.
Critics had soo much hate for this movie. I enjoyed it. I was captivated by the characters and their connections. I don't always like Jeffery Wright but really like him in this. Part seemed a little rushed but I don't want to sit here for 3 hours.
