_Girls of the Sun_ is a misnomer because the film is only about one girl, and even then it's not about her battles but more about her bad habit of fixating on her past.

_Girl of the Flashback_ is about a Kurdish woman who is jinxed because everyone she knows or loves is killed or raped or sold into slavery by Isis. Normally, you'd think this would be sad, but apparently the director (Eva Husson) thinks it's poetic because the cinematography treats these subjects as if they were only an excuse for art.

That said, I've been a fan of Golshifteh Farahani since I saw her in Jarmusch's _Paterson_ and it was a pleasure to watch her here, no matter how much she over-acted (I blame the director). The simple facts of the story pushed me to the edge of tears more than once, as well, so I can't say I totally disliked this film, either.
