This movie is a lot of fun and such an easy watch! The acting is brilliant and the humour is spot on. The negative reviews are pretty pedantic in my opinion.
Loosely based on a true story the film hits a lot of the highlighs and is a lot of fun. Both Pegg and Serkis deliver strong performances. The supporting cast of Tom Wilkinson, Tim Curry, Bill Bailey and Isla Fisher are just that but what screen time they have they present well.
The film is directed by John Landis, his first in over a decade, however feels quite a departure from his earlier fare.
It's a dark comedy well worth the investment.
I watched this movie with probably too much high expectations (John Landis as director, Pegg and Serkis and Curryas actors, cameos from Lee and Harryhausen) so at the end I've been a bit disappointed.
The movie is not bad, it has its own good moments and some good ideas but it seemed that Landis didn't want to go fully inside the Black Comedy. I'd have loved to see those two characters being much more "evil" and filth. It's at least enough enjoyable to use it to burn 1 hour and a half
I really loathed the ending... I'd never die for "love". (Unless its love you have for your child of course). Here it just felt like a cheap cop out.. "Hey I love you.. I'll die for you now. Just so that you can forget about me 15 years from now and screw other guys regardless, forgetting I gave my life so I can see you sucking some guy's junk."
STUPID!!!
Do yourselves a favour and dont waste 90 minutes or so of your life. Scenes just put together to make a movie. Terrible acting. I did not care for any of the actors, devoid of any emotion. I really believe ratings have been hijacked over the past few years by commercialism.
