A refreshingly different take on on the Zom-Rom-Com genre previously explored by the likes of "Shaun of the Dead", and a plethora of B, C, and D list offerings, that, actually, pretty much sticks the landing. Lupita Nyong'o is impressive as here, she displays a different side than her usual weirdo/warrior variants, and shows that, unlike the apocryphal W.C. Fields advice to "never work with children or animals", she has the range and chops to do BOTH, and, has fairly believable chemistry with Dave, played by Alexander England. Josh Gad goes sorta' against type as a semi failed actor who found success pretending to be a jovial and exuberant man who entertains kids and loves them. However, he is later revealed to actually be a perverted, selfish, abusive, arrogant, hypocritical, and alcoholic child-hater who is only interested in "boinking" their mothers, including single moms, married moms, pregnant moms,.. well, you get the point.

Not to be overlooked is the delightful, awesomely named Diesel La Torraca, as Dave's nephew Felix, with an honorable mention to Charlie Whitley as Max, who just wants to play putt putt golf.

Worth the watch if you're looking for a spot of less intense horror for an evening.

Loved it. My wife and I really enjoyed this one. As much as I love comedy horror movies, it’s really hard finding one’s that are good, and funny across the board, but this one definitely deserves a higher rating than normal.

Consistently funny and very heart-felt, anchored by yet another superb Lupita Nyong'o performance

Anchored by yet another exceptional performance from Lupita Nyong'o (building on her astonishing, Oscar-worthy work in Jordan Peele's Us), Little Monsters is heartfelt, light-hearted, and consistently hilarious, with a very well-modulated comedy/character ratio. And although the core is rooted in childlike innocence, it's very much for adults – there's nudity, graphic violence, a hell of a lot of swearing, and ukulele-based Taylor Swift covers. The horror. The horror.

"A horror/rom-com hybrid that proves the zombie genre still has fresh brains to savor."

A nice little quirky zombie comedy. Lupita Nyong'o is great and Josh Gad plays a great asshole.

I feel it is wrong to say it - but this movie was great! I went in with really low expectations, but it was that wonderful mix of comedy horror that zombies can bring.

But definitely held together by Miss Caroline, who kept a straight face while playing that super teacher that every kid wants to imagine, fighting chaos and zombies while singing Taylor Swift songs and playing ukulele. Brilliant.

_Little Monsters_ is an interesting twist on the tired and overplayed zombie genre that has crowded Hollywood in recent years. How a movie about a zombie invasion threatening kids can have such humor and endearing moments is beyond me, but the film is able to deliver these in an effortless way. Lupita Nyong'o does as excellent job as a kindergarten teacher and really reminds me a lot of my own fiancé as she teaches young children, very believable. Alexander England does a fine job as well; he really plays off from his nephew (Diesel La Torraca) and Nyong'o very well. The pair have good chemistry that builds throughout the film and pays off at the end. Josh Gad is very much what you would expect from him, over the top and annoying. I found his character to take away from a lot of scenes, but it didn't hurt the overall experience too much, just wish they toned him down a bit. The comedy is reminiscent of Kindergarten Cop, some of the humor and jokes hit while others missed entirely. I did really enjoy the constant songs and kid controlling mechanisms that they used throughout the film. It added a subtle spice of dark humor with the backdrop of zombies trying to devour the students. This film doesn't do a lot but what it attempts to do, it does fairly well.

**Verdict:** _Good_

At first, I have to say that I was reluctant to watch this. I'm not a fan of horror movies or zombies. I just don't find either topic very interesting. However, given that this seemed more in the vein of a Zombieland than a true horror film, I decided to give it a chance, and I'm so glad that I did. This film was really, really cute! The story itself was pretty original, the characters were interesting, for a movie w/ a bunch of children who played a major role, they really did a great job, and the three leads were fantastic, especially Ms. Nyong'o. She was just incredible in this role! This movie was funny, sweet, endearing, dramatic, and just a lot of fun.

A seven for It’s sense of humour that kept me entertained and it’s action wasn’t so bad and it had a great cast and it was different to most zombie based films and i thought josh gad character was a little over the top.

I thought the ending was nice, over all good film

Aside from the constant swearing - it gets tiresome after a while - this is an entertaining and at times very funny movie.
