Beautiful drama about a street prostitute developing a lesbian relationship and turning into a serial killer. Based on a true-story. Definitely worth watching. 8.5/10
Charlize Theron played the hell out of this role. Holy shit.
Also, controversial opinion maybe, but Selby was more of a monster than Aileen ever was in this movie. I said what I said.
Charlize Theron is a phenomenon in this movie.
I loved the atmosphere of this film — the decay of small-town America is captured with raw, gritty realism. It powerfully shows how a prostitute becomes a serial killer, not through easy excuses, but by exploring emotional abandonment, fragility, and toxic dependence.
Charlize Theron and Christina Ricci deliver outstanding performances — intense, heartbreaking, unforgettable. A disturbing, but deeply necessary film.
Best performance I've ever seen. Ebert got this one right.
An excellent serial-killer movie based on true events. Excellent performances by Theron and Ricci, with a Charlize Theron that is barely recognisable.
Great movie but it's 100% Theron doing it from beginning to end. I don't know what's up with Ricci, if it is the script or direction or a miscast or if Ricci just can't match Theron's performance. It's unfortunate because it could had been legendary if Ricci had leaned more depth into Selby with all the potential that is there. That it is still a great movie is... all Theron.
Astig! Well act. Bravo! I watched this because of Wikipedia
Charlize Theron gives one of the best female performances in the last decade, unfortunately the rest of the movie does not reach the level of her brilliance. Well worth the watch for Theron's performance.
