Way better than the average low budget Netflix sci fi fare. Smart writing and directing, solid acting, and AMAZING(ly efficient) world building made for a fun, thoughtful and engaging 96 minutes.

_Prospect_ is a hidden gem in the world of sci-fi cinema. From the opening scene, it draws you into its futuristic world with its atmospheric and well-crafted visuals. The attention to detail in the production design and practical effects adds authenticity to the alien landscape, making it feel both otherworldly and believable. Pascal and the rest of the cast delivers solid performances, adding depth to the film's rich and diverse characters. _Prospect_ skillfully avoids many of the sci-fi clichés and instead offers a refreshing and original story that keeps you guessing until the very end. The film's measured pace allows for a gradual immersion into its world, culminating in a gripping climax.

Altogether Prospect is a good mixture of art and sci-fi that you have to get involved with. Not perfect, but definitely special.

In detail: The plot is coherent, comprehensible and completely okay for a sci-fi movie. The actors are both likeable and convincing. The scenery, make-up, effects, costumes, etc. Yes, low budget. But that's exactly what never bothered me. On the contrary. It certainly had charm. It was like the '80s had found its way back into space. For me, as a fan of that time, absolutely perfect.

The film takes its time. It develops and never really picks up speed. It's an unusual expedition that I followed with great anticipation. Yes, every now and then I had to force myself to stay on it, but I was rewarded every time anew.

My favourite scene: Cee takes something away from Ezra. And this with a serenity... just lovely. To avoid spoilers, I have abstracted the statement here as much as possible.

Not usually into westerns, but this one I can get behind. Mostly just had issues with the language mix

I enjoyed this, though it did bug me how unphased Cee seemed to be over her father's death. He dies, and then she literally just runs back to their ship and chills out listening to music. It felt as though she was devoid of most emotions. Maybe that's what they were going for, and she's supposed to be autistic or something and not good at processing things, but if so, it wasn't displayed very well.

If you were to tell me this was the role that landed Pedro Pascal his part in The Mandalorian, I wouldn't bat an eye. This small and quiet film gives us a glimpse into a future where, despite the advances that have been made, life is even more brutal, unforgiving, and fragile. This film takes that backdrop and uses it to give us a story of forced bonding, uneasy trust, and a unifying desire to survive. Despite the slow pace, there's a lot to unpack. And to top it off, the score is simple but spectacular, adding heavily to the tone.

Not your average sci-fi film, a bit of an atmospheric slow burn and an overall engaging experience.
