Dave Allen at Peace

Filmed in homage to his original TV series, this fictionalised account follows Dave Allen from childhood to becoming one of the UK and Ireland's comedy greats, with just a whiskey, a cigarette and nine-and-a-half fingers. Dave Allen is played by Aidan Gillen
Exceedingly disappointing. Dave Allen was an excellent comic. This biopic wasn't funny and while Aiden Gillen is a good actor and talented mimic, he didn't have Allen's passion or comedic timing. It just didn't stick the landing and felt hollow and pointless as an exercise. It nearly skips over his crowing achievement "Dave Allen At Large" and its international success and significance...and you never even see his wives or children. Hardly covers a subject when you are missing those pieces of a person's life.
Too bad. 5/10
