In regards to the look I'll have to admit I liked the non CG Asterix's better. But the story was good. I watched the english dubed version and there where so many little innuendos in the dialogue.

As kind of an indirect answer to the comment by @notoriousx I'll go on record saying that I'm lucky to say I was 6 1/2 years old for the last 85 mins.

I have nothing but great memories of the hours I spent reading about Asterix and his plucky Gauls and it was so much fun watching this animated adaptation complete with plays on any word you can end in “ix”. The animation was masterful. The comedy was silly and fun. The adventure was worth the ride. I give this film an 8 (great fun) out of 10.

An Asterix adventure at a super-fast and super-fast pace. They are finally making film versions according to the quality of the comics.

DISCLAIMER: I did not see this movie in its original language(French), but in a dubbed version(Italian). I may have missed some nuances.

This movie disappointed me. I had greatly enjoyed the 2015 Asterix and The Mansion Of The Gods, so I was hoping to get something on the same level.

Visually, it is a great cartoon. I think that this CGI style works much better than the old cartoons. It really captures the chaos and the general mood of an Asterix comic. I loved it, simple yet detailed.

The plot was really the main fall of the movie. It felt all over the place, like if the writer were throwing everything they had, hoping that something would stick. What came out instead was a mess.
The humor in Asterix cartoons has always been more childish than the comics, but here you can count on one hand the jokes that would make an adult laugh.

The only reason I don't give it a lower rating is because of nostalgia and fondness for the characters.

5.5/10

Another disappointing Asterix movie. If only they had a potion to formulate a better story.

I've loved the Asterix comic series since I was a kid, but as usual, the movies in the franchise are not up to par...for an adult that is.

The movie is very well animated, and the French voice actors are good, but the jokes and story are all over the place. I miss the sense of "grandness" the stories of the comics had, and the jokes are...flat. No other words describe them better.

BUT...my nephew of 6.5 years laughed all the way through...even though he couldn't understand a single word of the dialogue. So maybe this one was never meant for me in the first place???

I felt like I was watching The Three Stooges and two of them didn't show up. A perfectly innocuous film for children young enough not to have seen these jokes before, but they'd have to be extremely young for that to be the case.
