Wonderful movie and very deserving of the 9.1 IMDb rating it currently boasts of.
Amazing twists + Amazing ending = Brilliant movie! 9/10
Quite an engaging thriller despite the contrasting moods between the two halves, with the first being quite dark and the latter, comic and lighter.
never mess with a b*tch
This movie is all over the place.
This movie is about Akash, a piano player who pretends to be blind and witnesses the murder of a famous retired actor. The movie covers the consequences faced by Akash for playing blind, the murderers' measures to keep Akash quiet, and a few others trying to make a profit from the main characters.
The storyline shows a promising experience to expect a good thriller, and I was intrigued to watch the movie even after many spoilers on social media. The movie starts well, establishing Akash's life routine with his con to use people's sympathy for differently-abled persons. The scenes were crisp and engaging and didn't waste much time on anything other than what was required to tell the story. The little boy messes with Akash and tries to sell the proof he's not blind to his girlfriend being a good addition.
The scenes of the murderers' test to find Akash, whether he is blind and he dodges in such a scene, were good enough. The murderers made Akash what he pretended to be; to silence him was good and creates intrigue in the story. Akash gets trapped in a new conflict as he escapes another was also written well. His retaliation to bring down the murderers and getting betrayed were good add-ons. Some comical scenes were enjoyable.
But the climax was stretched longer than required to give the ending and was predictable. I got tired of watching some stretched scenes of escaping. The role of Sophia in the story looks minimal, as she doesn't contribute much to the story. Some are left out as the movie progresses on certain characters.
Ayushmann Khurrana did a good job as a person pretending to be a blind man. Tabu did great in the negative role as the story demands. The cinematography and composition were good. The songs were decent, and the background music was less than required.
In conclusion, I like this movie. I suggest it if you want a good thriller movie, as it was entertaining and engaging most of the time.
Was always at the edge of the seat, completely unpredictable way more than Delhi Belly, sometimes it felt absurd and Matlab Kuch Bhi. Felt sooo bad for Akash, that artist can’t get a break. The characters and scenes weren’t that interesting but still managed to watch it because of the mystery element, since it’s unpredictable you want to know what happens next
It looks like the director was trying to make the story more and more interesting from the beginning but IMO he has failed. The movie was funny at some point but after the first half I find it boring. Some part of the movie was also inspired from La La Land and overall it was average.
Would have given it a 9 if not for the horrendous ending. Bollywood have mastered drama. It was thrilling all along.
