What a fantastic combination of Chucky and Anabelle. This film follows a young girl who losses her parents suddenly and has to go live with her aunt who is an engineer for a toy company. Instead of bonding with her niece she created a living robotic doll to take over the parenting and to be the girl's friend. But all turns to hell as the doll gets over protective. The lead up to the main premise of the film is a bit slow but necessary. The film has black comedy, great action and incredible filming and of course a creative plot. So unique in the horror aspect that its hard to not rewatch over and over again.

Great film, kept my interest throughout and even had some cheap laughs along the way. It's a cheesy horror film - you'll have a bad time if you're expecting anything more.

M3GAN UNRATED
10/10
All Gold

Well What an Outstanding
Movie and with so many
Of this particular genre out
There this needed to be something
Special to standout from the
Crowd and I am very very happy
To say it delivers on that promise
And then some.
I would be remiss to say that
Since 1988 "Childs Play" has
Been the number one killer
Doll Movie on a worldwide scale.
Thousands and Thousands
Of troupes for these types of
Movies have come and gone
Over the decades but right at
The Top people around
The world will always
Have the infamous "CP" as the measuring
Bar of comparison.
Well M3GAN absolutely climbed
Straight to the top of sharing that
Spot as one of the best killer doll
Movies of all time.
This movie is so fcuking cool
And M3GAN is absolutely
Frickin Awesome.
She along with this movie is
So unique and like nothing
I've seen before and I have the
Best of the best of this type in
My Multiverse Archives
But this,this is something else
Something good, different and
I was absolutely loving every single
Moment of it.
The first Act did not mess
around setting the stage while
introducing M3GAN and giving
us our first glimpse of her,
(that smirk is evil, I loved that).
Then comes the 2nd and 3rd Act
and It was an absolute blast and
100 percent entertainment,
Honestly it's one of the coolest
And slick,creepy AF and funny
Movies I've seen so far in 2023.
High budget, great performances
And a very very lifelike Antagonist
To which I have never seen done as
Good as this in any other production.
And to think that this type of technology is just a few generations ahead of
Man's reach/capabilities,
Now that is Scary AF......
VERDICT: This is a must see, forget
All the others of this genre
M3GAN stands alone
and stands out
With Outstanding
Animatronics,
Stella performance
all round and
M3GAN with her performance
Is On A Different Level.
I had a really great time with this
and I had so much fun and truly
M3GAN steals every single scene
And her facial capture technology
Is off the charts, there is a bar and
M3GAN has just set it to a brand
New Hight and shown us with
Something so familiar and well
Known, with the right
Director, script
and production company
Can turn that into something
We've never seen done before,
Which actually makes it rather
New and Fresh.
Thank-You

Welp. That was certainly a thing. One of the more interesting things about this movie is that given how it was advertised it managed to live up to the hype. Megan is exactly as good as you would hope. Not that much better but definitely exactly as good as you hoped. That doesn't mean there aren't surprises. There are a few. But it's good stuff.

It's not a perfect movie though. It's got a great theme and excellent pacing but when you drill down some of the story beats don't make sense individually. Why is a hole in the property fence large enough for a dangerous dog to run through not patched by EITHER neighbor. Every time it comes up the conversation hangs and the question is never answered. It makes about as much sense as a dog bite being ignored because the dog "doesn't have a history of violence" or the dog "was provoked". There ARE reasons to let the neighbor keep her dog but it would make sense if they were social rather than policy-based.

One of the things that really "bothered" me, (and for the record none of it affected my ability to enjoy the movie because the rest of it was so strong) was that M3gan is way to powerful. There's a fantastic article on Breaking Bad that came out around Season 3 or so. It argued the entire premise of the show was flawed because (in short) drug addicts are addicts. They don't seek out bespoke drugs like they're at Trader Joes. They'll pay for cheap effective drugs and they'll pay more if it doesn't get them AS high. The article argues that the fundamentals of the drug trade don't work in the show because the incentives are the exact opposite. Literally quantity over quality. Once that was pointed out it made perfect sense because that's reality and you see that sort of misrepresenting of transactional incentives all over TV and Movies because they want you to think the world works one way and in reality it works the opposite. If you'll allow a second tangent, the way cops are antagonistic to internal affairs leads to more people trusting Internal Affairs police investigations in real life when in actuality there's no incentive for IA to prune police. After all they ARE police. Who watches the Watchmen if you'll allow yet a third tangent. This all ties into M3gan as a toy because the incentives shown don't make sense. To the point where they kinda don't have any verisimilitude. First of all the idea that a toy company is struggling to make a cheaper version of their toy because their chief designer wants to make toys too complex to be knocked off. First of all toy companies don't work that way and second of all we have like 70 years of toy design that says exactly the opposite. Toy Design is not what makes a toy sell (to a degree). Toys rely heavily on marketing. Toys love to tout their features but the idea that features literally "can't" be replicated? This is 80s computer design thinking. Everything gets replicated. That also leads the the construction of M3gan. _"M3gan's designed to withstand whatever life can throw at her."_ but why? Even cars aren't designed that tough. Cost is a limiting factor that was already raised by this point so to see M3gan even as a prototype designed so literally strong just doesn't make sense for what the doll's purpose is. This isn't military applications like Boston Dynamics (I said what I said). This is a child's companion. The closest way I can justify this is that the company designs toys that are supposed to be long lived. Which is an even more ridiculous premise. Designing a toy that outlives a dog or even you is one thing but the toy a person wants as a kid isn't the toy they want 10 years later. And what's the market incentive for a toy like that? Ironically it feels under monetized. But M3gan is a $10k doll companion. You could get a literal person for cheaper.

In spite of all that the movie works. The pacing is excellent. I cared for this characters before the scares ratcheted up. Most things were telegraphed well and paid off in a manner that was satisfactory. The M3gan actor was excellent. While the voice wasn't consistent it was good. There was detachedness and then menace when needed. For a wildly inconsistent style the changes worked when needed. Megan's physical design was great. There are notes of Chucky in there, especially in the final act. Even the style of dress feels like a nod to something that slipped my mind after the credit rolled. Cady as a character works. One the things that it's easy to forget in a movie like this is that Cady is a broken child. She's lost her parents she's weirdly attached to this doll. Violet does a good job of shifting into a character of a girl who isn't working right. The level and type of petulant anger on her face is kinda disturbing but perfect for the character. The kills didn't feel overly gratuitous and they were pretty varied. One of the few problems with M3gan being so powerful is that it makes any kill she does confusing. She's powerful enough to just punch someone to death so why bother using tools.

Watching M3GAN 2.O today but even though I’ve always wanted to watch the first one I never got round to it but it’s kinda worked well as I’ll be watching both films 1 day after each other now.

Plot wise while the idea isn’t original I do think they done it in a fresh way as to me Chucky is totally different he’s not AI he was a actual person and Annabelle is being controlled by demonic spirits so I don’t get the comparisons anyway this was definitely my type of thing.

I did really find M3GAN hilarious the way she gets more control and talks back is actually creepy but what what made this work was the horror slash comedy vibe to it just worked for me I do think they should focus more on horror as just by the brutal scenes we did see that would be awesome.

Her design is so freaking cool aswell so literally nearly looks like a normal kid.

Some of the best parts for me was when she was chasing the kid and was running like a dog was funny to watch the scene after that was abit sick though lol 😂

Also the part where she sings Titanium to cady was ironic with her being made from that.

There’s not really much negatives with this film except what happened to the dog 😢 excited to watch the second today, I do think they could make a few sequels with M3GAN honestly 9/10.

'M3GAN' works for one reason and one reason only: the robot. I could honestly do without the entirety of the scenes that are predominantly about the adults, but the Model 3 Generative Android is, surprisingly, highly entertaining to watch.

The look is good, the effects are very convincing and, unexpectedly, the dialogue really adds to the character; it is lively and amusing, which can't always be said in this genre. They could've perhaps made the robot more unsettling, though it is minorly creepy once or twice.

Allison Williams, despite my lack of overt interest in the older folk, is solid in a prominent role. She looks like Amanda Peet to me in this, I even had to check it wasn't Peet; even though I knew the years/ages totally didn't work. Violet McGraw is decent. Less said about Ronny Chieng, the better.

The only thing I knew about this before watching was the dance, which isn't featured as much as I was anticipating based on how much I saw it referenced when the film came out. On similar-ish note, I enjoyed the uses of "Titanium" and "Toy Soldiers" in this.

As a big fan of the other, I second any calls for a crossover with 'Chucky'... Don Mancini's one, obviously.
