I know it's very difficult to pass a book to a movie but they're to be congratulated. I can not lie by saying that there was no shortage of things but everything that was really "important" was spent very well for the movie. Note: Only thing I missed was the blanket with blood.
Lots of chemistry among the actors, particularly, I loved.

What brought me to this movie was Josephine Langford. My first encounter with her work was last night in THE OTHER ZOEY (my review here https://trakt.tv/comments/612608) which has today sent me into a deep dive into her filmography beginning with the AFTER series. It is always hard to know who to root for in this “nice girl meets dark mysterious boy” trope. The audience can see the danger ahead, yet know it’s going to work out in the end. So, on that count it did an adequate job, but I have to say that our Australian actor with an impeccable American accent elevated the piece. She shines every time she enters a scene. I’m giving a whole extra, numeric bump, just for her presence in this movie, and will continue following her work. I give the film a 7 (good) out of 10. [Romantic Drama]

i love finding out published fiction turned movie franchises were originally fan fiction, nothing makes me more hopeful for the day i finally try to put my writing out there.

also, i don't care if this was garbage because it felt like a sarah dessen book and after college it took mindless fluff like that to let me be a book lover again

Not as bad as I thought it was gonna. Still full of clichés though but that's to be expected
(obviously it had to include the whole innocent girl and bad guy trope)
. The main thing that gave me the impression that it was gonna be really bad was based on the things I've heard about the book but a lot of the really bad stuff that happened in the book was left out of the movie which is good.
In the book he kept the used condom(!!) and a sheet with Tessa's vagina blood on it to prove to his friends that they had sex....so the movie could have been worse, there's also a bunch of manipulative and abusive shit in there and some dubious consent but thankfully that's not really in the movie.
Every single character in this movie annoyed me(mainly in the first half) except Selma Blair. Bless.
Hardins backstory was severely underdeveloped.
Tessa is deadass out here being a dumbass. If a man that you barely know asks you to go into the woods with him, YOU SAY NO!This is common sense y'all.(I know that's not technically what he said but like if a stranger asks you to come with him somewhere and he drives into the middle of the fucking woods...bitch, that is when you run.

Also, towards the end when the teacher gives Tessa the assignment Hardin turned in for that class...you're definitely not allowed to give someone another student's work, wtf.

Not to mention at the very end where Hardin basically compares them to Elizabeth Bennet and Mr Darcy....I have to laugh.

One more thing, this is not important in the slightest but I can't be the only one that thougth Noah was Tessa's brother in the beginning.
The acting is subpar at best but the script didn't give them much to work with so I'll let that slide.
It is pretty much exactly what you would expect from a movie that was based on a Wattpad "book"(I use the term "book" loosely).

at first it reminded me a lot of "A Walk To Remember" except some other things ofc!! but tbh there's nothing much to it. but near the end things took a turn (a cliche one) but still it made things exciting and watchable!
"love: it's a place where we hide our wounds & scars, our juiciest secrets".
i love the main male character version of love, that's for sure. when someone who loves me tells me things or promises, i expect you to hold your end of the bargain, to me that's love!!
it's good if you kinda like teen-romantic movies.
also Selma is playing a mom now, woooow!!!! time is flying and i knew that josephine looked familiar.

AFTER this movie I would rather rethinking of my choices to watch a movie more than that.
You know what bother me the most except the whole movie? That they stole "a secret spot" from CMBYN.. How dare you bitch

"Have you never been touched before?" asked lead character Hardin. And my answer is this. No Hardin, not like this.

BEFORE your film, I had been been touched by other movies - films that broke my heart and penetrated my soul - Harold and Maude, Magnolia, The Cider House Rules, The Shawshank Redemption - but after seeing AFTER, I knew that no film had touched me in the same way before.

No other film prodded me with bland and unengaging displays of emotion. No other film tapped me on the shoulder to remind me that a better romantic movie was waiting next door. No other film scratched my spine with manipulative mush.

After seeing your film Hardin, my life was changed forever. So, while I have been touched by other movies; no other movies had touched me in the same way that yours did. And as such, I shall now place a restraining order on you and your blasted film.
