i genuinely can't understand why this has such a low rating. it's a well-made film that's easy to watch; i liked the pace, the characters, the sound, the plot. it's as good a romance/self-doscovery film as any. it didn't go where i expected it to which was a pleasant surprise. daphne is equally and painfully relatable and dislikeable, being awkwardly self-destructive and hurting the people around her, and generally being a bit of a f*cked-up mess, which all ultimately adds up to her character just being very human. i also cringed at a few moments (see: jack being excited about her pregnancy while she's about to cry) but i feel that these moments are deliberate, not a result of poor filmmaking. i of course as a huge seb stan fan was rooting for frank, and i especially enjoyed the scene with 'losing my religion' (one of my fave songs, thanks to glee of all things), but i still enjoyed the way it played out. it also was super cool to recognise their mother as the voice of bojack horseman's mom!
