"Becket's 9 Lives" is an endearing film that combines humor and life lessons in a charming way. The story follows Becket, a spoiled kitten who, after losing his ninth and final life, stands before the guardian of heaven begging for a second chance. Little does he know that, instead of returning as the spoiled kitten he was, he will now have to live as different animals: from a mouse to a skunk.
What really stands out about this film is Becket's evolution. As he experiences each life, he learns valuable lessons about humility, friendship, and the importance of understanding others. The situations he finds himself in are hilarious and often touching, making the viewer laugh and get emotional in equal measure.
Visually, the film is attractive and colorful, perfect to appeal to both children and adults. The animation is fluid and the character designs are adorable, adding an extra bit of charm to the story. The soundtrack complements the different stages of the plot very well, making you immerse yourself even more in Becket's adventures.
In short, "The 9 Lives of Becket" is a film that, although it is aimed primarily at a family audience, has a message that resonates with everyone: sometimes, you have to get out of your comfort zone and live different experiences to grow and find your best version. A perfect choice for an afternoon of cinema at home, where laughter and reflection are guaranteed.
The real problem here isn't that it's *that bad*. But you think you're tuning in to a cat movie, or maybe you've read enough to think "oh, it's an animal movie". And it sort of is but really it's about... Bees. This movie's main character is largely left waiting for attention and development so that attention can be given... to bees.
Bees are important, and entire books have been written on everything threatening them and what we can do about it. I don't mean to disparage what the movie is clearly trying to get across.
However, if you think you're tuning into literally anything but a bee movie... yeah.
While I'm here, it's of course obligatory to note that
> According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way a bee should be able to fly...
Okay animated movie for kids but anybody older than 10 will likely be bored.
A little long and repetitive but an alright little animated movie. Watched it with my cat taking a nap right next to me and the first act was so cute and heartwarming. A very accurate portrayal of cats and you can tell the makers of this movie love cats. Beckett is a fun character with a good sense of humor. Whenever Bill Nighy as the evil professor of puns is on-screen he steals the spotlight though. The scene where he tells us about his past was hilarious. Nice animation it more than does the job. Past the first act it becomes a little repetitive and I got tired of the concept at some point. Never got used to the mix of cats and bees in the same movie, they do merge the two at some point but it felt forced (the inclusion of bees all together feels forced to begin with). Still, I had a good enough amount of fun and laughs.
