Life of Brian

Brian Cohen is an average young Jewish man, but through a series of ridiculous events, he gains a reputation as the Messiah. When he's not dodging his followers or being scolded by his shrill mother, the hapless Brian has to contend with the pompous Pontius Pilate and acronym-obsessed members of a separatist movement. Rife with Monty Python's signature absurdity, the tale finds Brian's life paralleling Biblical lore, albeit with many more laughs.

Probably the most accurate representation ever of that time period. A genius film made by brilliant people. (all highly educated people) John Marwood Cleese I salute you!

Some quotes / scene referrals to elaborate this statement.
- O.K. but besides... ...What did the romans ever do for us?
- Oh, I thought we were the popular front?
- ROMANES EUT DOMUS ?!?... ...Ah, huh, third person plural, uh, present indicative.
- ...Which they're fathers fathers left there just the night before...
- Suicide squad attack Uuurrgghhh... So that will teach them !!!
- No One is to stone anyone, until I blow this whistle... Even if they do say Jehovah
- How about those Jennifer bushes over there?
- Yes, we're all individuals... ...Exactly ! Tell us more. No that's precisely the point.
- Crucifiction? Yes. Good... Out of the door line on the left one cross each.
- Release Brian !!! Oh yeah that's a good one. Release Brian !!!

This film should be scolar education material around the world and maybe people might learn something. Highly unlikely that would work, but that's precisely the problem.

The only thing that I disliked in the movie was the spaceship scene. But since I have seen it a 100+ times in my life it might be considered a minor detail.

A timeless comedic masterpiece that satirizes religion and human nature with wit and absurdity. From "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" to the infamous "Biggus Dickus" scene, this Monty Python classic never fails to entertain me.

A motion picture destined to offend nearly two thirds of the civilized world. And severely annoy the other third.

I First watched this while living at my friends house age about 15, I think his mum brought the video in and we all watched it, My mate and I absolutly loved it, so much so we rewound the tape and watched it again and again and again, Back to back viewing all night his sister came down in the morning and we were still watching it laughing as much as we did the first time around.
I've watched it so many times over the years since.

Directed by: Terry Jones
Written by and Starring Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin collectivly known as 'Monty Python' For me It's a timeless classic of an era long gone 😢 when most people had thick skin.
Stan: I want to be a woman. From now on I want you all to call me Loretta.
Reg: What!?
Stan: It's my right as a man.
Judith: Why do you want to be Loretta, Stan?
Stan: I want to have babies.
Reg: You want to have babies?!?!?!
Stan: It's every man's right to have babies if he wants them.
Reg: But you can't have babies.
Stan: Don't you oppress me.
If the story of Christianity's roots is eternal, so too should be anyone brave enough to parody it. This, the British troupe's second cinematic expedition, is neither as carelessly silly as _The Holy Grail_ nor as manic and sketch-heavy as _The Meaning of Life_, but it's every bit as funny in its own dryly sarcastic way.

Though it might not be as immediately gratifying as its peers, I've come to appreciate _Brian_ as the Pythons' best-written picture over the years, with a razor-sharp wit placed alongside the requisite amounts of lunacy and brow-furrowing topics of conversation. And, though it's clearly a product of the late '70s in many ways, its not-so-subtle warnings against blind faith in any organization (or the men at the helm) is still very relevant in today's world.

It isn't the non-stop funhouse jaunt that one might expect from this cast, but _Brian_ delivers no less efficiently in different ways, especially during its hilariously bleak song and dance finale.

To me, the best comedy ever. Brian lives a live parallel to the life of Jesus Christ and the Monty Python crew does not miss an opportunity to point out idiot beliefs about and of the time. Just hilarious and at the same time food for thought.

The world doesn't change, you could laugh at the same things 2000 years ago, 45 years ago when this movie was made and you can laugh at it now. :)

Today the film is rightfully regarded as a comedy classic, and one of the Python's finest works. It's *still* not a film for everybody, but does it have to be? If you're in tune with the Python's style of zany comedy, you'll enjoy "Life Of Brian."

I wouldn't call myself the biggest fan of Monty Python, but both “Life of Brian” and “Monty Python and the Holy Grail” are absolutely timeless comedy classics. I've seen “Life of Brian” in particular so many times that I've lost count. And the fact that the laughs don't diminish with each viewing should suffice as a quality indicator. Even if not every joke hits the mark, this is certainly a movie I will watch many more times in the future.

It was my pleasure showing this to my girlfriend for her first time. Mouse loved it. There's no humor quite like Monty Python and the surreal logic and absurd happenstance are right up my alley. The nonsense, escalating to extremes, play on words and the mishearing of them, among themes of religious faith and ways of thinking culminate into one immense feeling that the universe is absurd and there's nothing you can do about it. Yet, without being so bleak or nihilistic, it offers us the answer, to look on the bright side of life; and I think that kind of sums up my views on life in our universe all together.

Life is absurd. Everything we do is absurd. These are things society should think about more often. Life is confusing. Life makes so sense. Life has been decided behind your back by people or things with more power. Life is random. Life is surreal. Life is absurd. All we can do is live it. We live in the universe. We are the universe. The point of life is to live it, to experience it. Tell your story. That's how we learn. And with that, go out laughing. Have a blast. Have fun. As long as you're not hurting others, do what makes you happy. Look on the bright side of life.
