This movie brilliantly highlights how corrupt the political and media establishments are. Watch it till the end... for a beautiful plot twist.
Hilarious, clever and poignant, just how satire should be.
If you saw this as preachy or disliked the twist, you're part of the problem.
Pretty good - not spectacular by any means, but worth watching. Nice twist at the end.. 7/10
I’m not a big political guy, but I am a big Steve Carell guy! This one is a light-hearted watch that is easy to enjoy. It’s not outwardly hilarious, but it is one that could easily appeal to many.
Rating: 3/5 - 7.5/10 - Worth Watching
I’d much prefer if Jon Stewart had decided to do a documentary series about the issues of partisanship, the failures of the media and the corruption that can occur in the system that we currently have for elections.
I hated Steve Carrell’s character from the beginning and in the end it seems as though that was by design.
Should of started the movie with a /s. To let everyone know this is meant as satire and sarcasm rather than a preachy movie to please a liberal crowd.
From Jon Stewart comes the fun political satire Irresistible. When political consultant Gary Zimmer sees a video of a charismatic man at a town hall meeting, Zimmer goes to his small Wisconsin town to recruit him to run for mayor, but the race soon becomes a media circus once it gets national attention. Starring Steve Carell, Rose Byrne, Chris Cooper, and Mackenzie Davis, the film has a solid cast that delivers good performances. And Stewart offers a lot of clever satire, and wisely keeps it about the absurdities of the political system rather than attacking any political party. Still, there are some bits of crude humor that don’t really work, and a couple of the characters are underwritten. Yet while it has a few weaknesses, Irresistible is an entertaining comedy with some interesting things to say.
It was lame at first but The twist saved everything,
Actually liked this more than I thought I would.
The film divides me. Jokes work most of the time - I particularly liked all of Rose Byrne's jokes and the advertisements. However, the story is boring and the ending was very moralistic. If it were a matter of manifesto, I prefer the works of Spike Lee. So the film is a worthwhile attempt, the problem is that it doesn't work.
Brilliant movie - just brilliant!
