Fever Dream

A woman named Amanda lies stricken, far from home. A young boy named David questions her, trying to make her remember. She's not his mother, he's not her son. As her time is running out, he helps her unravel a powerful, haunting story of obsessive jealousy, an invisible danger, and the power of a mother's love for her child.
A woman named Amanda lies dying in a rural clinic and answers the questions put to her by a boy named David. She’s not his mother, he’s not her son, but he's there to help her recount things that have happened to her and ask her to pay attention to the details so she can identify 'the important thing'. The novel was amazing. I had doubts going into this but this film is an accurate representation of the story. It's a psychological drama about motherhood anxieties and invisible danger that feels like a fever dream. With a good mix of fantasy, suspense, and horror, this film takes you to unnerving journey. The dreamlike cinematography and score make it easy to stay invested. The structure is very strange and may turn off some viewers, but for me it works and keep you intrigued. I love the way it weaves between future and past making the present seems not to exist. Also the purposefully vague plot adds to the mystery aspect of the film and gives a sense of dread all the way through. María Valverde and Dolores Fonzi are both fantastic in here and I love their chemistry. Can't recommend enough.
