My Little Pony: A New Generation

the soundtrack was absolutely amazing. I was not expecting to like the movie so much

Very cute and endearing with charming animation. The third act is a bit rough and the uh. Imagery of the villain is a bit much when you don't let him have any real consequences, but those are minor quibbles for a good kids movie.

My sister made me watch this with her, and it's not bad. Only ever been vaguely aware of the franchise from Lemmino's top 10 video and general cultural osmosis.

anyway, I can't believe the CG MLP movie is about racism, the military industrial complex, and the rise of fascism - but ATLA's time scale is based on genocide, so anything's possible lol.

The songs start a bit randomly, but they do their job in progressing the plot (or establishing character change). A couple are also kinda catchy (and the satire of the angry mob song is great lol).

I'm slightly disappointed they didn't say "friendship is magic" though. Also assuming the characters from that show are either dead, mythological figures, or in an alternate universe (but given that Sunny has figurines of them, it's probably one of the first two).

It's not bad overall, and apparently it's the set up for a series that follow this - so it's probably good to watch it before watching said series.
